I am going for trip to Vietnam, Singapore in few weeks.
Just seeing if anybody knows of the best pre paid travel sim.
I was looking at TravelSim but they cost $50 for starter pack with $5 credit. Which is too expensive as its $45 for the sim itself.
Any recommendation or past experiences?

+1 on buying the sim overseas. I just went to peru where many of my friends bought cheap sim cards and sent texts to aussie friends. Was really cheap, and much better value than aussie roaming costs.
+2 on buying a sim there. However if you must buy an international one I would choose Lebera - Used them once and was very happy
yep, I went to singapore and vietnam recently and buying a sim in vietnam is definately the way to go. As long as you are not calling home, its going to cost you peanuts and the recharge is going to last ages.
Number 1 thing to remember though is to make sure your phone isn't sim locked, try sticking the sim of a different carrier (eg telstra if you are on optus) to find out.
Hm, what about if I'm travelling to Japan? Would travelsim or buying a sim there be cheaper. Hm, I'm not even sure if they use that same kind of sims.

I have a travelsim card that I used on a recent trip to Cuba and the USA that has about $50 credit that I have sitting on my study desk that I have been meaning to put onto Ebay to sell.

Buy a sim card in Vietnam. It'll cost you about $7 or $8 and give you a number and plenty of credit for local calls. I had credit left at the end of 3 weeks. I'm not sure how much it will cost you to make calls back to Australia if that's what you want to do, but certainly no more than international oaming. Plus you can do SMS to Aus very cheaply.
