Does anyone have any idea or experience with replacing a main board on a fridge and how long they normally last after replacement? I also thought that once you do a call out and if they come back then its part of the first call out fee and not another fee on top? Apparently there is a difference between a first inspection and then a second time visit with a fix?
Control or/and Relay Board on a Fridge.

It is a Westinghouse with a WSE model number.
yes ive had it replaced twice (westinghouse WSE something or other) by an authorised westinghouse guy (called westinghouse to sort it)
the call out was only charged once. The guy had to come twice (first to diagnose, second to come back and replace). It cost around $175 if i remember correctly.
i hope your fridge isnt the one that has the tendency to bust the water line at the freezer door hinge. thats annoying as hell :(
how long does it last? about 2-4 years. It's clearly a consumable.
if you can get your hands on the board itself, its a 5 min job to fix.
I thought so! Does your amount of $175 include the $145 call out or is that the part only?
no that was the callout charge, which included diagnosing and returning at another time with the part.
the part was $50 - $70 or something.it was a while ago now which is why my numbers are a bit hazy. Ive had the fridge 9 years and have replaced the mainboard twice
I wonder if its a easy fix. How has your compressor been all along?
@NEEDHELP: no other issues with the fridge at all.
what was weird is the last time the mainboard broke, the compressor was making all kinds of racket. the guy who came to diagnose said it was the mainboard again, which I disagreed with because it was clearly a mechanical sounding issue. He replaced the mainboard anyway and it fixed the noise..
I am still confused to this day
How far out of warranty were you?
@NEEDHELP: it broke at 4 years and then at 7. i guess the standard warranty is 2-3 years.
@jobler: They are meant to last way longer, but unfortunately they don't! Each time your technician came out did he have to do the diagnostics and come back another time with the parts?
why not buy the board yourself and replace it?
it's not rocket surgery.
If I knew how then I would.
usually it's located where the light and or controller is. or sometimes behind a panel on the back of the fridge.
Yeah I know, but no clue on pulling it apart and reattaching.
@NEEDHELP: it would require-
(1) power off and plug removed from the power point
(2) undoing a 5 or 6 screws to release the cover.
(3) checking #1 has been done.
(4)look at the board and take a photo of it. .
(5) remove all connecting wires to the board.
(6) remove old board - might require a screw to be undone.
(7) insert new board - check photo from #4 and plug in wires to new board.
(8) replace cover and screws.
(9) plug in the plug and go fridge.the wires will be attached with plugs in to the board . plug'n'play
what is the brand and model number of the fridge?
