Hi All,
I'm looking for a Looftlighter charcoal starter and they are way more expensive than the days when Bunnings had them on clearance.
Best I can do so far is $139.95 with free shipping from the Australian distributor or picked up from a dealer. Most dealers don't have prices listed, so it's possible there is a bargain out there that I'm not aware of.
Other theories on cheap prices:
- US model is way cheaper, but 110v only so I'm discounting it outright. If I am wrong a heads up is much appreciated.
- A 240v version with Aussie plug is available in NZ for $139 NZD but once shipping/currency conversion/warranty is considered probably not worth it. There might be other Kiwi options that take advantage of currency differential.
- It also appears the UK model is the right voltage with just plug conversion required. Seems to be as low as £40.10 fulfilled by Amazon UK or approx £55 from a range of other shops (eg here), but none ship to Australia AFAICT.
- Perhaps a cheaper alternative to the Looftlighter is well regarded by OzBargain BBQers? I'm looking for something with a significant airflow, which is why I'm discounting most heat guns.
Thanks in advance for any tips!
I use a charcoal chimney, much cheaper and works well - why do you prefer a looflighter style product?
