I think there is a green soy product that you can eat during lent, that is non-vegetarian, soy lent green… Only 5 more years…

I heard it taste better than the red or yellow versions

Looks like everyone else has gone missing except JV here..

  • It is a shame the packs are so small. In my view 240g is not a main meal.

    • +1

240g is okay for a steak, but I agree 350g is more satisfying.

Just a morsel to keep body and soul together.

      • We have the 1kg rump challenge at Speers Point, NSW … A rump weighing at least 1000g raw, cooked to your desired time/shade, then served with chips and salad. Costs $35.95.

If you eat it all, you get your money back and your name on a board and a T-shirt.

Last saw it done about April 2013.

It certainly is large enough for a main meal, but it depends on what you're serving it with. Also, depends on how much exercise you do during the day I guess. being an office worker, These portions are perfect to keep the weight in check.

    meat included for extra price?

Not even in the chicken burgers.

Has anyone tried this? Veggie patties when eating out always taste great but whenever I cook one it's not the same…

I buy these when half price and love the Schnitzels and nuggets and stripes, haven't tried the others will need to find them.
Will be stocking up this week.

    • +1

These are great, definitely give it a try goodperson! I love the schnitzels and the nuggets in this range, I think I'm just cooking the strips wrong because I can't make it taste good haha

Try the Linda McCartney ones, they're delicious. They've got mozzarella in them though so not suitable for vegans.

100% second that comment, best vegetarian mock meat style burgers I've had.

The secret is to fry them in pork fat

  • This has to be better that Quorn, which they used to claim was mushroom-based but is really a microfungus like mould or mildew.

    • +1

heaps better than Quorn, much rather this and I eat both regularly being vegetarian

Q: What do you call a fascist vegan? A: Lactose intolerant.

It's an easier transition for those unsure of what to cook after becoming vegetarian. Meat, veg, and side is very prominent in Australia.

    • +3

Vegetarians don't hate meat (as most feminists don't hate men lol)
I'm veggo because I'd rather not eat meat when I don't have to, but it's hard to transition cold turkey and "mock-meat" products are a good middle-ground

    • +6

Some people like the taste and texture of meat, but not the animal cruelty. There's nothing weird or hypocritical about that.

      • +1

That'd require vegan products; vegetarian products involve intentional animal exploitation, death and suffering.

    • Agree with the feminism statement, at least companies are trying to give people an alternative to eating dead animals

  • +1

    Are these vegan also?

    • +4

      All Fry's products are vegan.
Most of the Quorn range is moving to vegan as well.

Good to see people are evolving from cave beasts

Who cares about stranger's thoughts on vegan/meat debate, it's a feat bargain, not a social discussion/soap box.
These are actually quite pleasant, portions are small but for those who wish to reduce their evening portions, it's a ripper for the price!

      Who cares

60billion warm blooded and a trillion marine animals do every year, that's who.

Part of every good GMO-infested, antibiotic, additive-laden, pill-fed diet. Bon appetit.

I suspect spoken by someone who eats animals that are laden with antibiotics, fed with he cheapest gmo feed (worldwide if not locally), injected with vitamin sups and growth hormones and most often confined to wallow in their own shit till slaughter day.

From an aesthetic point of view I think I'll stick with the soy schnitzels.

      You suspect wrong.
Worst veg foods are processed meat-alike products. GMO too of course.
