LED light bulbs

So my regular stockpile of light bulbs in the house has diminished to the point of buying some new ones and are looking at LED

Anyone have experience on the E27 / B22 ones like the below for use in loungerooms etc??

  • can't help with lounge room usage advice.

I have a White + E14 30LED in my microwave. it's very white and quite bright.

my bed side reading light has a WW + E14 7W 220V + No + transparent from this page . 7W is enough for reading by. I bought this during some mega-special for $1.

just ordered a Warm White + 64LEDs + E14 to test out in floor lamp.

      … is a dim bulb.

      … has Edison screw loose.

… is short a few watts.

… does not have complete circuit.

      • But all is different if you have bikie connections

        • "How do Indonesian bikies greet each other?

          Ada bike?"

  • Do not buy those. They are very very poorly made. Will not work after a few weeks or months, easily short circuits. Stay away.
I know as I had a couple of those around my house which have since been replaced with IKEA or Phillip LED bulbs.

Go Bunnings, Woolworth Coles, anywhere really.
All nowadays have a selection of good cheap LEDs with local Guarantee.
I once bought a few LED bulbs from AliExpress they had live 240v partially exposed, at least for someone with smaller fingers.
I really wouldn't recommend you buys those.

  • Went with something similar a few years back, wouldnt waste my money again. The ones that worked started flickering 4-6 weeks in, or failed entirely. There is also the concern of fire or damage to electricals to be concerned with as already mentioned.

You get what you pay for, buy Local and it's easy to send them back. I've had success with the Aldi globes. I had a failure with some e-bay globes - they were all a weird purple colour and I got them re-sent and fortunately with better colour.

  • I have purchased several from Aliexpress without any failures or problems but quality varies between different products, have bought different brands/types all the same wattage and some are significantly brighter than the others.

  • Agree with others you get what you pay for. Also watch for the colour warmth of the globe. If you want to live in a stark white/blue lit house (operating theatre) then choose cool colour warmth. I prefer warm colour warmth with a hint of yellow light.
