Has Anybody Dealt with Ozpilot.com.au?

Has anybody purchased from these brits ozpilot.com.au?

I purchased something from the above site over the week-end & on Monday & i get a call from them to verify if i'd actually made the purchase. When I confirmed it they wanted me to email them 2 forms of ID before they can ship the goods as it was going to my parcel locker, and I did.

I get a reply email saying they need a utility bill to prove my residence so I complied again. Then I get a another email today saying they still cannot ship the good as my address on the bill don't match the address on my Licence (I hadn't updated the address since moving).

All in all nothing has been shipped yet & I asked for a refund which I still not got.

Is this all legal in terms of consumer law?

  • I would not have sent so much personal information to a company I don't know?

Maybe email saying they have 48 hours to provide either a tracking number for your shipped item, or a full refund.
If they fail to comply, get a chargeback to reclaim your payment and report them to ACCC.

Yes - I think the retailer is entitled to take reasonable precautions against credit card fraud. Looking at their website, the average order is probably several hundred dollars, if not thousands. I bet they'd be pretty sad, if they had a chargeback because the credit card owner didn't authorized the purchase and someone else has cleared out the parcel locker.

No - they shouldn't dilly-dally about giving you a refund. I hate it when shops do that. I would call them to see where they're at with the refund. Be polite, but insistent that you want it done immediately.

Mwave did something similar and my order was only $100 and they didn't create new hurdles after the initial information was supplied. Also had a similar experience with an online travel agent in the UK.

  • sound fishy as.

Any communication after you asked for a refund ?

  • i paid via PP. I spoke to a guy over the phone asking for a refund cos im not gonna bother with identifying
who i am anymore. The guy i spoke to agreed to a refund like this "we'll give you a refund soon.. " wtf ?

Interesting. I thought PP came with 'merchant protection' too … wonder why they're being dicks about the ID.

Just go ahead and raise a dispute with PayPal, there's no downside to it and it doesn't prevent the merchant from resolving it sooner than the paypal timelines.

thats exactly what i thought too. Just raised a dispute with PP.

    • If they've already agreed to a refund then maybe wait for a few days to see if it comes through.
If they fail to refund in a reasonable amount of time then open a paypal dispute.

  • bit too late now. I was disgusted with this experience, in all my years of online shopping i have never experienced
nor heard of what happened to me. This was meant to be a gift for my old man for his bday & i may not get it on time.
So i took a swing at the vendor out of frustration & filed a dispute.

Meh, they stuffed you around plenty, if they didn't want a dispute they should've shipped you the item you paid for or given you an immediate refund. Good luck finding a good present to buy.

      • thnx
