Help finding a new macbook charger!

Hi all!

My macbook charger is fraying at the insertion of the cord, I really think it's time to get a new one. The ones on the apple site are ridiculously priced so I was hoping to get a cheaper one. On ebay they seem to be a simple short cord that runs straight from the machine and may not be compatible with the apple macbook extension cord. Does any one know of a good deal?

Thanks!

  • My Macbook Pro got stolen a few months ago but I still have the charger. I can sell it to you if you want. I assume it's the long one is the 'cord, white block thing, cord" one. How much is eBay selling it for?

    • Hey, ebay have in for $25.65 delivered for the cheapest one. Email me at REMOVED by MOD per OP Request if you think you'll be happy to sell it for cheaper!

      • Check with Apple, it may be covered under warranty as this is a known issue!

Also, you may already know this but as you have a MB, not MBP, you only need the 60w unit, not the more expensive 85w for the MBP! ;)

  • Oh, lol.. I was going to chuck it on eBay for $40-$50 seeing as it's original and it's $99 on the Apple site. Sorry. ^^"

I bought a knockoff Macbook charger from eBay (for about half the price of a genuine) about 2 years ago and it is still going strong. If you don't care about getting an Apple genuine charger, you can always go the eBay or Dealextreme route… I don't know how good the Dealextreme charger is because I don't know anyone who bought one- but its going to be the same Chinese knockoff quality that you get from eBay.

    Hi all,

Thanks for your ideas. In case any one has the same problem, I ended up buying one off ebay ($3.19 and $20 for postage). Although it comes with a US plug, you can remove this and clip it onto the extension cord that is supplied with your original apple mac charger. It is pretty cool, with the new L shaped apple plug instead of the dodgy T shaped one which was prone to fray. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200512… I have no affiliation with the seller by the way.
Also, it came really quickly in the post <1 week, pretty fast from HK.
