Bose QuietComfort 20- Should I Get It?

I'm after solid noise cancelling headphones. I fly a lot for work and required hard-wired headphones.

Firstly I thought about getting QC35 but I wear glasses and wearing over-ear headphones for long period of time is not very comfortable so I settled on in-ear QC20 (unless someone can suggest better alternative).

No with eBay sale and GST refund I can get them for $227 what you guys think?

I listen to music through my QC20 at least 5 days a week. I love both the sound quality and effective noise cancellation. I also find QC20 tips incredibly comfortable… nothing like "regular" earphone tips.

I find they output a hum sometimes when used with my phone or my computer sound card that doesn't have shielding. On my computer that does have a shielded sound card though, they are rock solid.

I've not listened to the QC35 but something that might be of interest to you is that they use Bluetooth version 4 which cannot stream CD quality (according to what I've read on the internet).

    $227 is a fantastic price!

  • I can't comment on other brands but I have the qc20's and they are fantastic for flying.

They don't fully block out voices but the amount of cabin noise they block is surprising. My mates all tried mine and wanted to buy some so they could sleep like I was.

I also rather the qc20 as they're easy to stuff in a bag or pocket.

And yes, they are very comfortable

  • I own the QC20 too and I think they're pretty darn good. Best thing about them is the way they fit into your ear (not a feeling of having something stabbed into your ear canal)

I wear them when I have to share a room with someone who snores. Yes. It blocks snoring.

  • I find the QC20s pretty ace for flying. Superior to the QC25s imo.

The QC25s kinda make your ears hot after a while on a plane and are hard to turn in.

The sound quality is pretty "good"; you are definitely paying for the noise cancelling though, as there are many other earphones in the price range which outperform the qc20s.

The QC30s seem to have the same quality? the weird halo thing you wear looks weird though; the qc20s are better.

  • Just pulled the trigger.

    Thanks for all that info

  • Lost count of how many long haul flights I've taken my QC20's on, actually worn out the pads twice and simply replaced them.
