Hello Fellows,
This is my first post in the Forums, I need some suggestions from you. A BIG THANKS FIRST!!!
I need a very slim 16:9 monitor displayed (vertically) in a store front by attaching it inside of the store’s front glass panel. There is not much space limited as the sliding door only gives about 3cm depth clearance between the two glass panels, so the monitor must be very thin, even thin at all the ports area. The monitor needs to be FULL HD or QUAD HD, 4K may be considered if the price is reasonable. Size of the monitor needs to be at least 27" (31" max).
Also I need an Micro-PC to play some high-resolution photos/slideshow and 1080p Full HD videos on the thin monitor, not really heavy duty, but needs to be durable over long time of using.
I looked some LED TVs which can play photos and video by plugging in a USB, but they seem very thick.
Please leave me some suggestions guys, thanks for your help!!!
You'll need a digital signage display, not just any plain monitor.
Most monitors have a bulge in their bottom sections to allow for a stand to be inserted and the bulge usually contains reinforcement so that the display doesn't wobble when moved (or break). This means that even if the monitor has an external power brick, like mine has, it still has a minimum of 56mm depth and this won't fit inside your 3CM space. That's simply too small for any consumer monitor to fit in.
As for computers that fit inside a 3CM gap, a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B (without an enclosure) would easily go in and it can remained powered on for months on end, without needing to reboot. I haven't rebooted my Pi 3 for over 3-4 months now and it still works (as a file server and router).
Intel Compute sticks could work as well, but they cost more than a Pi does.
Oh if you want to do research yourself, you could look through this list of monitors
Shopping Express
and Mwave
and then scan the "Dimensions" spec (without stand).
