When you book online they don't take payment until the rental has finished so a bit weird to word it that way
I booked through entertainment book and paid with the cc to get the rebate last year with no issue

In the Amex app, it says in-store or online for me, and then gives a link to "Redeem online now".
Bookings can be made online but payment must be made in-store.

Last time I hired a Budget car they charged me for cleaning inside the car and fuel top-up although the sand was already on the floor when we got the car and I just filled up 5 minutes before returning it!
They really try to make an extra buck any way they can.
Yup! I suggest you take photos of everything before you drive it off the lot and when you return it to the lot, inside & out including the fuel gauge. Some might think it overkill but it only takes a few minutes and believe me, it'll save you one day! They'll also see you doing this and think twice about trying to rip you off!
