Harvey Norman: Hisense 55" 55N7 4K UHD Smart TV (HDR) for $1495

80

I think this is the cheapest that this model has ever been. It is one of the best TV models this year according to this website https://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/article/605926/top-6-tvs-2016…

Good Guys and JBHiFi are offering similar prices.

Cheaper through TGG because of the C&C option :)

  • is this a series 8 model?
newer than the M7000 model that was around $900 a few months back or is it really just the M7000 with little change?

    • I think you are referring to a much older model. Specs and interface look different.

It's had an OS change on the Smart TV side of things, but yes it's otherwise an incrimental upgrade, save for the HDR changes. Given the 12 month product cycle for TVs, they generally are.

Currently this doesn't support any HDR formats other than HDR10, but HLG is supposedly coming in a firmware update, and it will be sorely needed because it will likely be the broadcast HDR standard for terrestrial TV, and it's also the standard chosen by YouTube. Unsure if Dolby Vision support will come with this model.

There's also some conjecture as to whether the previous model was true 10bit colour. Regardless, this will likely price drop to around $1000 at the end of the product cycle, but either way I don't think you'll find an M7000 lying around.

        Thanks.

I always thought the TV the IDG article referred to was the M7000UWG that was on clearance a while back.

Yup, and this is the next iteration of that model.

  • Go to JB Hi-Fi and negotiate, you should get a better price than this.

Recently purchased the 55N6 model - pretty happy with the TV, though if you use Logitech Harmony remote controls, be warned that they aren't compatible with Hisense's dynamic input menu.

    • How much did you pick the N6 for?

      • I got it for $1100 when the RRP was still $1400, looks like it has since been brought down. The sales guy was willing to negotiate on pretty much every TV I looked at.

    • Any tricks to deal with jb? I got $5 off their list prices, or better they told me to buy from the cheaper seller

they told me to buy from the cheaper seller

Jesus, this should be a big no no from any sales rep.

      • A big part of it would be the sales person that you get. I took the undecided / have a set budget in mind / set on certain features approach, and asked what was the best price they could do. The guy didn't hesitate to offer discounts after checking the cost prices.

  • Have the 65n7 and it is awesome, so i would imagine the 55 would be the same.

  • I have 55N7 and the picture looks good when sitting in front of the TV.
Watching off center, the picture looks washed.

I still consider it as budget TV though

Well dont sit off centre, my 4 kids do and they love it even off centre. Is the 55 and 65 totally different panels? I am watching it now at 6 feet from centre and looking great:) Low quality feeds like foxtel you notice the picture difference but thats from all angles:) Budget TV my arse, hisense has smashed it with 55n7 and 65n7, i looked and researched for months before choosing:) each to there own:)

      • 50 and 55 inc are diff panels. Not sure bout the 55 to 65. I'd doubt it. Both would be Samsung.

  • Happy with my M7000 I got a month ago. Colour and HDR are beautiful. Motion isn't as smooth as I'd hoped but I can live with that for the price I paid

  • Hey guys, need some inputs from people who bought Hisense 55N7 model. I am thinking about this one. Main purpose is watching Netflix movies, news channels, Kids cartoon & movies besides PS4 gaming on the TV. I would be using the TV in my main room which is quite a bright light room. I have read few good reviews about 55N7. However, read somewhere that the media player has some issues with video ratios etc. The price of this TV is currently around 1450-1500 AUD with prime players. Ebay has a sale which brings it down to 1240. I have managed to get one of the dealers to get it to 1200. So its cheaper than Ebay price. I am happy to share the details once I have got a final confirmation from the store. Meanwhile, please share your thoughts. Another option I have in mind is Sony kd55X8500E. However, there's a 500 or so price difference.

    • Which store. ? I was gona approach them see if they can price match. Ta
