Overpriced IMHO but there is still a market out there for people wanting to splurge

Severely. Wasn't worth the price when it was announced, and still isn't. I still bought the XL 128gb though, and completely regret it. What a rip off. Especially since phones that are cheaper price have more features

Agreed. The LG V20 deal today for under $400 ticks many of the same boxes (and then some - MicroSD, removable battery). I can't see how this is worth $600 more.

New pixel 2 out in october which is only 2 months away. Im assuming this phone will drop even more and used ones will flood the market. I wouldnt buy now.

    • And if the leaks over the last few days are correct, it has even bigger bezels than the current model, and speculation it still not be waterproof.

Boy am I tired of reading people carry on over smartphone bezels and waterproofing.

        And no headphone jack.

I bought the Nexus 6P 128GB version from Kogan (Australian stock) last year for around $550. A year after launch, $929 seems pretty overpriced. Just like that half-eaten-fruit-brand.

    • Half eaten, half baked.

        half naked is better

At this point I'm seriously considering an iFruit as my next phone, even though I've always owned Android/Nexus phones. The Pixels are terrible value, whereas it's at least easy to flog off a secondhand iPhone and recoup a reasonable amount of the initial cost

      • yep probably good time to get that as there has been news that they finally dropped the physical home button (cutting edge technology from…)

  • How long would Google provide support/updates for this? I read somewhere it might not be too long

  • The big attraction to Nexus and pixel was latest OS and not much bloat …… Be interesting if Motorola / Lenovo fill that spot again …… At least my 3 year old moto got android 7 and now says Lenovo and moto…

  • The new Nokia phones are nice, and they are on the latest version of Android. Hopefully their flagship is a killer phone. It would be good if Nokia can fill the spot of the old nexus series.

  • Google Pixel XL 32GB is available with free Daydream View headset for US$569 (~A$750) from online US Google Store. Google Pixel 32GB is US$45 less. The drawback is if you have to claim warranty, you will have to ship it to US address (that's what Google Support said on chat).

    • The US Google store doesn't ship to Australia.

      • You are right. If they did, my comment would have been a deal on the main page. :)
