Need a New CPAP Machine. Any Suggestions?

Hi, I've been hiring a CPAP machine for quite some time now and it's time to buy a new one. I prefer fixed pressure as they are cheaper. Would also prefer new machine rather than used but if the price difference is significant, I may consider second hand. Can someone please tell me which one is good and cheap (Reputable brand). Or any brand machine you have been using and are happy with?
Much thanks in advance.

EDIT: I've been looking at http://www.secondwindcpap.com/ for second hand machines and they seem so much cheaper. I am more open to second hand CPAP machines now. Please let me know if you know of a better website than this or one that is Australian.

  • Would you say you have a CRAP CPAP?

    • Why neg? Genius play on words!

      • I was hoping I'd get a bit of mileage off it

    • The one I'm hiring is pretty good but it's a really old model and new ones cost a lot. It's Respironics.

Resmed is the market leader in CPAP technology and it's an Australian company.

I recommend the AirSense 10 or Airmini for travel.
My parents use both the products with a full face and pillows mask.

Thank you. I've been looking at some Resmed and they look good.

    • Resmeds primary production is based in Australia but they are an American company listed on the New York Stock Exchange.Headquarters: San Diego, California, United States. I use a Airmini with a P10 nasal pad strictly because it has a rebreather saving me from filling the humidifier every night. When the Airmini battery pack is released it will be so much better for travel and camping. Note the Airmini is loud for the user as the rebreather sits near your chin causing you to hear yourself breathing.

      • Their headquarters are in America, but that does not mean they an American company. You cannot continue to grow as a company if you only sell in Australia.

CEO and Chairman are Aussie and the majority of their product development team are based in Australia.

Resmed are releasing a new vent where the HMX sits, which reduces noise. You should be able to buy it in a few months time.

  • My doctor told me to get one with a heated tube for comfort, especially in winter. I stopped smoking and lost some weight and haven't needed a CPAP machine since.

    • Thanks. I've been losing weight as well but it doesn't seem to fix my snoring.

  • Some previous discussion albeit about importing from the US here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/313256

    • Thanks! will have a read through that when I get home.

  • NEW ResMed S9 AutoSet with H5i Humidifier & ClimateLine Tubing
    ONLY $599

I find this web site the most cost effective, ones found in Australia are way too expensive. And the autos are affordable too. Any brand is good, choose the one you like the features and look of.

Wow that's a sweet deal. Thanks. I am guessing the price is in USD? so that's around $765, which is still pretty good. Have you had experience with this website? How do you manage warranty or if something goes wrong with the machine?

      • I did not worry with the warranty - based on the price a new one is in the cards should the 1st one stop working. Here is their warranty info though http://www.1800cpap.com/cpap-warranty-information.aspx But to be honest mine worked fine for 4 years. I gave mine away when I started using a dental mouth piece instead.

I had an older version of this one, Philips Respironics CPAP Machines- Auto Adjusting http://www.1800cpap.com/dreamstation-auto-cpap-machine-with-…

        Now I use O2VentTM Mono http://oventus.com.au/o2vent-products/

Yes, the pricing at 1800CPAP is in USD - don't forget you will need an adapter if you buy from them. And there is no import tax/duty needed. Shipping up to 2 lbs = about $20.00USD, over 2 lbs is about $30.00USD.

        Local prices run -
        ResMed S9 AutoSet RRP: AU$2448.00 to AU$1699.00

GENTLY USED ResMed S9 Autoset AU$1,195.00
