Genuine question as i'm looking for a replacement for my Mum, is there anything better out there for $450?
Not really, I think it's a good buy for it's price though.
Hmm, that's a hard one - I'd be looking for "unwanted gift" or almost new ones off Gumtree to be honest…
But if you're set on something new, you can do worse than Dell
Was originally looking for one of these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Dell-Inspiron-11-3000-Laptop-…
But looks like they've gone up from $399 to $499 recently - I'm thinking this may be the better buy with the larger screen etc - would rather buy from a trusted store with warranty too :)
I would go for the Inspiron 15 over the 11 as the screen is quite small.
Well they aren't wrong, 1280x720 is the industry standard for HD so 768p is slightly better actualy
Wrong. It changed, even Sony advertises ultr hd bluray as four times the resolution of HD.
Wrong again, "HD" is a standard, 720p usually being the minimum. However anything with over 480 scan lines is typically considered as… You guessed it, High Definition.
CPU and Screen resolutions are the reasons which it doesn't sales!
FYI http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-5200U-vs-AMD-A8-7410
They removed it anyway!!!
Will it run LOL and Dota2 okay?
I don't play games..but might try these two games out
LOL yes low settings. DOTA 2 defs not.
pretty sad because an intel i3 6006u with a HD520 GPU build in runs LOL at max super high settings at 1080p with a nice 70-80FPS :)
intel HD has come a long way Those laptops can be had for $450 at the moment with the 10% off sale Dota 2 should run at 60FPS at medium setings without issues.
Thew new mobile ryzen + mobile vega build in will be a laptop power house.. old 2014 AMD mobile chips are not very good
Almost regret missing out on this buts it's not even 1080p
No SSD is a deal breaker as well
ewww… "AMD A8-7410" and their version of "HD" is apparently "15.6 in HD LED touchscreen (1366 x 768), 10-finger multi-touch support"
