Any Thoughts on an Astra RS? Or suggestions

I've noticed these are going practically for a song, and I'm wondering what the catch is?

I couldn't google up any serious common issue (other than the Holden badge of course).

Or if you have a better idea, I'm happy to listen to suggestions in the $20k range.
I'm after something

  • warm-ish, without having its mileage going into ridiculous territory. Which means no V6s.
  • Not fussed about buying second hand/demo. Must have new car warranty no matter how little left of it.
  • manual if its cheaper.

    I liked it, however, there is no gutter thingy to attach roof racks. I know you can get the ones that fit on under the door seal.

        Yep, I often use roof racks, so this was a bit off putting for me too

    Ex-Holden Salesman here

    I liked it, but:

    • Doors are huge, makes it a PITA at shops!
    • No reverse camera - still old school with f&r sensors
    • Stereo isn't touchscreen - takes a bit to get used to

    But yes they're going cheap because no one bought them new, so "Ex-Holden" ones (press demonstrators) have worn the depreciation, meaning you won't have much to worry about in terms of losing much money at the price point you're looking at.

      Right now I'm driving a car without ABS so reverse Cam and touchscreens are a dream anyway.

      And I thought that it might not have been too popular coming in manual only at first.

      No big maintenance issues you know of? Bad gearbox or something?

        Nah never heard anything bad about it but there wasn't exactly many case examples to draw from.

        Certainly didn't have any complaints or any come in on tow trucks

    It has been brought to my attention PSA bought over Opel. Is this going to affect the Astra in the future? Ie spare parts and whatnot
