Help Recommend Stick Vacuum

My Miele bagged vac has blown up and I was planning to first buy a stick vacuum and then later on replace the bagged vac with something else when the budget allows.
I've just moved into a new house and the whole place bar the bedrooms is tiled, big 600x600 shiny tiles that show dust and hair constantly.

I am wanting to buy a stick vac in the shops today, unfortunately all of TGG stores in Perth metro have no stock of the V6 Slim which is what I was looking at as per the deal that's currently active on this site. I can't wait 7+ days for something to be shipped from the east, because I have no vacuum cleaner at all and the house is a mess.

Has anyone got experience with the other brand cordless stick vacs such as Vax, Black & Decker, Electrolux etc?
Hoping someone out there owns one and can either vouch for it or tell me to stay away.

Run time is not a huge issue as it's only a unit and not a large house. Budget is $300 or less. Please don't suggest a Dyson V8, as good as I hear they are, it's just not affordable right now.

  • Interested too. Need new parts for my vacuum but they will be over $70 so it seems insane for a small place

why use vac on tiles? get a microfibre mop

    • This. I have a wide one and it picks up everything, is easy to move around. Cheap, does not use power and does not take up that much more time. At least you could consider this option for the interim until the next $300 V6 deal.

      • even a broom will do for the 7 days you need to wait.

We have a Dyson V8 Ultimate. It was expensive, but it does work well. We've only had it a month, so I can't comment on it's reliability. The battery capacity isn't huge, we have a small four bedroom house and I'm not sure we could vacuum the whole house on a charge, but it is great for just picking off the wall and cleaning up the dog hair, chewed up toys, and grass clippings that have been dragged into the house.

  • bought a V6 Absolute for $459 from Good Guys in O'Connor the other day.

I was very, very skeptical of it but the wife got her way. I have to say, we have used it twice in two days and it is SO much faster and easier than our old corded Electrolux.

  • We bought a Bosch Athlet Cordless $288 at HN 6 weeks ago. Does a good job, much better than old cord vacuum.

  • Godfreys has a $199 Electrolux Ergorapido Series 5 (18V). I've heard it has battery woes after you use it for a bit, and that the battery warranty is only one year. Mine is new so I don't know about future battery problems, but it seems alright aside from a slightly-fiddly dust removal and squeaky wheels.
