Mitsubishi Triton - buying help

Hi guys,

I need a new ute for business and seriously considering Mitsubishi Triton. I can see a lot of other people buy this or other Utes as well so this thread might help others too.

I am also interested in Isuzu D-Max and Ford Ranger but they seem to be bit out of my price. I need a dual cab, 4X4 and Auto gearbox. Looking on car sales new Triton variants are going for:
GLX - $33,000
GLX+ - $35,000
GLS - $37,000

Did a bit of research online and saw that GLX can be negotiated down to around $30k. I am happy with either variants and don't really care for leather seats etc.

What have people on the forum paid for their Triton? Or what can I comfortably negotiate it down to? I was wondering if there is a % off I should be aiming for?

Thanks ozbargainers.

  • Ranger

    • Certainly not in that price range!

      • Yeah I started my search with a Ranger. I love the look of them and the 3.2L models have a lot of power. But they are out of my price range unless I buy the 2WD with manual gearbox. So had to cross it off the list.

Non leather will be less work, otherwise to keep the seats in great condition you will need clean em every month deep clean and condition every 3.

    • Yeah, that's why I am not too keen on leather seats. Plus I will have my employees driving it and they probably won't look after it like I do.

Oakwood leathercare wipes aren't bad for a fast touch up.

I bought a 2013 GLX Triton 4x4 last year for 21k with 70000kms on it. Really good utes for the money, sure their are better ones out there but for something fairly modern and a bit cheaper, they're perfect.

Buy good quality neoprene seat covers. You should be fine after that.

      This!

Neoprene seat covers were the best investment on my triton interior.

      • Thanks guys. Will keep that in mind. Did you guys buy the Ute new and what sort of $ did you pay for it? Cheers

        • I bought the previous MN model GLX at 29990 in 2014

        • @singlemalt72:

Thanks mate. I am hoping GLX has everything I need and I shouldn't need to go any higher spec model. Cheers

        • @All Blacks NZ: Yeah, I decided the GLX had a good range of options at a good price.

I added towbar and bullbar aftermarket, lightbar, BFG tyres and a decent Kenwood stèreo

  • Just wondering how you went did you end up purchasing a Triton as looking at one also.

Did you get it for the $30,000 did they offer any other items with it to get the sale. As Glx is $35k at moment

    • I haven't finalised the purchase yet. My store will now open in October so I will be delaying the purchase until then. There are plenty of demo GLX+ on car sales for around $32k with 1000kms on it. You should be able to negotiate them down to $30k unless you want to buy brand new in which case, the new Mitsubishi promo is not bad with the fuel card offer.

      • Cool thanks for the reply

  • How did you go with this?
