Why on earth would you need paid membership for a shipping service in the first place?
If it was a club or something, sure… but a commercial business?

"Welcome to my coffee shop, $15 per person entry for the huge opportunity to buy a coffee here, get your tickets at the door"

    I don't think so.

Free membership? shouldn't it be free anyways with this business model - unless you're providing free shipping or highly competitive shipping prices

    • +1

well, Costco charges a yearly membership fees to shop there as well, and not all items there are cheaper than your average supermarket prices

      • +2

big difference is Costco will refund the membership fee

      • +3

I think the only competitive product they have is the hot dog with refill drink.

    • +4

Had a look at their prices and they are not competative…
$27 for the first 500g and then between $5 and $7.50 for each 500g thereafter.

  • +13

yeah, id totally pay a membership fee to unlock the super low price of $27 minimum shipping

    • Let us know how it goes.

Ahhh guys… they use dead weight and not volumetric. I use a forwarder about 6 times a year and I often have 7 or so items sent out. Sometimes a seller will put something tiny and light into a box and they end up charging me $30 because of volumetric weight.
Price isnt amazing, but if you are getting a heap of small items and consolidating them… it could end up far cheaper.

  • I use comgateway (and I'm sure there's other options too). Granted this is for US only but I haven't really needed shipping proxies for other areas. They're $24 for first 0.5kg and $4 per 0.5kg thereafter. No membership needed.

    • I use HopShopGo which is the same and uses comgateway infrastructure, but they do charge volumetric weight.

Those prices are US $ so works out pretty expensive - I haven't shopped around but Australia Post is heaps cheaper so might be worth looking into

      • International shipping rates are A$22.95 per parcel, plus A$4.95 per 500g.

      https://shopmate.auspost.com.au/

      • yeah but their parcel consolidation is crap. 3 2kg parcels would cost you $113 dollars with shop mate. With HSG or Comgateway its more like $24USD + $45USD ($86 AUD).

    • Just to add the stacks on

Shipito is $2 per parcel + $20.18 for the first kg and $45 for 1.5kg for their cheapest options

Membership is offered but you don't get a heap of benefits unless you want to consolidate

China 27AUD for the first half kilo is not cheap! many Chinese logistic company cooperate with Taobao offer 95RMB for the first 0.5kg which is only 17.27AUD with currency rate of 1AUD/5.5rmb. Plus there is aliexpress there! signed up but no deal! only if you guys drop the price!
