$1 Regular Chips before 4pm @ Red Rooster

760

Obviously trying to compete with the current HJ's $1 offer, Red Rooster is now doing the same, but unfortunately only if you buy them before 4pm. They are awesome chips in my opinion, right up there with KFC.

Terms and Conditions:
* Offer limited to Reg Chips only.
* Not available in Delivery, Catering or Stadiums.
* Max 4 $1 Reg Chips per transaction.
* Available until 4pm.
* For a limited time only.

The Chips are better at Hungry Jacks Red Rooster

  • +3

I actually like Hungry Jacks new chips :p How does it compare to Red rooster though? I havent been since i was 7 years old.

    • I personally like the crispyness and saltiness of the new HJ's chips but the seasoning that RR uses is very nice and they are very consistent with their chips across different outlets I've found. Never had bad chips at RR, unlike HJ's (and KFC too) which is very hit and miss with quality.

    • Red Rooster chips are better.

If RR chips are more like KFC soggy chips then forget it. Am guessing by your list order you love MSG.

RR chips are better than KFC and I have yet to have a bad experience with their chips. melbourne guy nailed it when he said they are very consistent. I've found that to be the case across different stores here in NSW.

I also love their roast potatoes.

You don't like the new Hungry Jacks chips? I reckon Maccas need to step up their game now, they are so thin and crappy now since HJs brought out their thick cut chips.

        • I remember having HJs/BKs King-Fries in London early 2000s… which is basically the same thing. Combined with the Grill-Masters range. The only thing keeping me at McDs is the $5 lunch meals.

      • +2

McD serves french fries; they should be at the bottom, especially compared to the new HJ chips.

  • Shame there arent more easily accessible locations :/ (i have a KFC just 10 mins walk) but the nearest RR Guildford or CHullora….

    • +3

I have a McD, Dominos and KFC all within 5 minutes walking distance and I haven't lost a kg since I started my diet back in January.

So yeah, by NOT having them nearby your waistline and health will thank you immensely.

      • Dominos and KFC are the real killers here on ozbargain…

whilst delicious, i rather not cross the red rooster line

    • not sure if deliciously dangerous (see:"the thin red line of heroes"), or clever political banter (see:"Red Line Agreement")? +1 in either case

I really do not agree with the idea that red rooster chips are good..

    For $1 though, sure maybe.

      They're not good they're delicious!

A warning: be sure to specify you want the $1 chips. Apparently there's regular "regular" and $1 "regular" which is in the small paper bag. Just made the mistake of simply ordering two regulars and unexpectedly getting charged $4 more. Eh.

Is it the same amount of chips as a regular size box? If not, that's false advertising

    • +2

It's the small bag that comes in the $5 rippa deal box or whatever. At least, that's what the store at Southern Cross showed me.

    • I got the regular box

  • Anyone who has got both chips which one is bigger - hjs or red roosters?

They are both good but if I get them in a paper bag I might go to the HJ..

Also expiry is most likely 22nd of August or whenever the hjs one finishes :D

    • Red rooster is 134 grams and 1240kj.
      HJ's don't have a gram amount and is 1400kj
My guess is the HJ's serving is slightly larger

    • +1

HJ for sure. I might've been lucky today but one of my serves was easily double the RR size. It'd probably be a third more on average?

      • Thanks for that! Yeah haven't had the red rooster chips in soooo long I reckon they must have changed their recipe lol
But I have had the thick cut HJ chips and they are awesome, much better than soggy Maccas "is that even potato" fries

        • No problem! I've probably only had RR twice in my life and can't say I'm a fan. But hey, hot chips are hot chips. I was willing to try them for a dollar. Pity it wasn't actually a dollar, either due to false advertising or a location going rogue, haha.

        • @Ashurei: haha what happened?? Just realised there is no RR near me either so I got HJ and omg they are so moreish :P

        • @pennypincher98: Someone above posted that they got a regular size box for $1 so now I'm confused about whether the location I went to lied to me and charged me normal price when they shouldn't have (hence going rogue) or RR actually did come up with a new "regular" size (the paper bag) especially for this promotion. Oh well, never going back anyway. I love the crispiness of HJ's chips, but I do wish their seasoning was a little closer to what RR and KFC have. Ooh, maybe they can do what McD does with their shaker fries, only without the soggy?

        • @Ashurei: I know this is becoming a tad off-topic but I do just want to say that you can ask for extra seasoning and they'll grant it - which is actually so awesome.

Actually quick disclaimer before I post; specified person above always serves me when I go to HJ so maybe that was the case? Can't hurt to ask anyway :)

I've got a McD shaker fries bag and sachet specifically for when I order my next HJ chips :P
