  • Or just pay $89 for a basic coffee machine Nespresso Essenza Mini after the cash back and coffee credit.

    • Or just eat 2 oranges…

      • So telling OZB a more affordable coffee machine option is available is a mistake?

        • No but you cannot compare apples with oranges! For starters, the model you mention doesn't have the steaming wand. Also, latest news report that the Aldi machine makes better and cheaper nespresso-like coffee but that has nothing to do with this deal :)

      • +1

Or just buy a huge tin of NescafĂ© Blend 43…

  • Is the milk wand really a big difference beyond the standard aero frother thingy?

    • I don't think so but GregFiona seems to be a big fan of the wand.

      • Who?

      • The biggest :)
Just think about this: How is your barista frothing your cappuccino? Does he use a milk frother?

        • Ok, thought about it. But is the taste any better? Or is it just a nespresso pod coffee with frothed milk. Will this wand actually do a decent job on non-milk alternatives like soy/almond etc? Usually that separates the frother's from the boys and the men!

        • What if I tell you I don't put milk in my coffee? If you are going to spend $400+ to buy a pod coffee machine might as well go a lil more to get this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/322075#comment-4943346 and buy beans instead of pods. Having a wand on a pod machine is like having a surround sound system with a tiny TV. The main difference in term of quality is the coffee not the milk IMO unless you want the wand over an Aeroccino milk frother for its convenience.

        • Then in that case all I can say is that I surely have got more experience than you when it comes to coffee with steamed milk :)
You are again using bad examples. My first 5.1 surround was about 18 years ago on a 17 inch computer and watching Matrix on it was too good to be true :)
Back to our topic, anything you add into your coffee is going to affect the taste and quality so a good steamed milk will definitely make a difference.
If you are not using milk then just buy a $5 italian moka percolator and you are done!

        • @GregFiona: maybe I don't have enough coffee drinking experience but my cousin owns 4 cafes once told me don't bother with pod coffee machines if you want excellent coffee so I guess no point having the wand for $370 more when the pods cannot make excellent coffee anyway. IMO I also couldn't be bothered a tiny TV with a big surround sound system and if I don't have enough money for both will go for a bigger screen first.

It is way better than the standard frother type, which is the majority of why you would buy this model.

I have it (cheapish via an old promo plus Harvey Amex deal) and don't regret it at all. If you want a pod machine and drink milk based coffees, this is the best on the market.

      • Is the wand worth $370 more?

        • +1

Well, for me it was worth the ~$200 extra it cost me (having been through a couple of normal nespresso and aldi frothers with my older machine)

At closer to 400, don't know… Part of it may also be its a more attractive looking machine to be stuck on your bench.

  • Thanks for posting this OP. I think to contribute to the 'milk frother' debate. It seems this is the frother from the very expensive Breville Oracle, which 'hopefully' speaks to it being much higher quality than the aeroccino and aldi frother.
