De Bortoli Premium Shiraz Cabernet Cask 4L is usually a safe bet
The Pinot Grigio cask is good too. They have a new Shiraz one out at the moment
Like a 'nice' red. Try to get unblended.
BWS do 2L Shiraz - Top Company for $9
Used to get ALdi, but in QLD they don't seem to do liquor in many storesNo Aldi Liquor in QLD :(
Liqourland 2 litre casks are ok bag for buck and taste 'The Stubborn Few' but the Di Bortoli 2 for $26 specials are the best
Life's too short to drink bad wine! But when heading to places like Bali where wine is mega expensive, I've been known to throw a 2LT cask of Yalumba Traditional Colombard Chardonnay in my suitcase. 2 for $22 at Liquorland right now- https://www.liquorland.com.au/White%20Wine/yalumba-tradition…
In the UK spent a few years getting into 'decent' wine - French heavy reds mostly - St Emillion, Chateuxnuef Du Pap etc. Even went to some of the place names it was made.
But now, drinking at home, just a glass watching the TV, cheap stuff is OK.
I find wine always tastes better at restaurants when you pay $12 plus a glass (for the same stuff I was drinking at home)- has to doesn't it !
We used to stay in France and get 5l jugs locally for what was then about $2 and have a nice starter for breakfast. Most enjoyable (especially to get over the brain ache from the quaffing of the day before!)
I prefer the term "goon bag".
I go through a bag of Aldi's soft fruity white a week-ish.
Solid drop, love it, I don't drink any other goon or wine under about $7 a bottle (generally).
Would recommend at just $9 4L a bag.
Must be the soft "fruity" white. The dry is comparable to licking the plains of the Simpson Desert.
