I am looking to cancel my CBA Credit card because they have cut the points scheme down by 67%.
shame on u CBA.
I am on the search for a new credit card with the best possible rewards points.
I was looking at BOQ and ANZ.
Thanks

AMEX Discovery is the best (perhaps the only) rewards card with no annual fee, you earn 1 QFF per dollar spend.
I don't consider Coles card to be a rewards card.
Amex Explorer
That has an annual fee of $395?
That's not really free (it even says $395 in the title). That's just using the points to offset the annual fee. Fee free is more like the Essentials card.
AMEX Essential is OK if you don't intend to use points for flights. Each $1 spent gives you 0.74 cents of statement credit.
Depending on what you want to use with the points on (ie. flights or vouchers) and spending habit, I would probably go one of the cards that waive the first annual fee and give you points on sign up.
The problem with Amex cards is that although they can accumulate points fast, still many places do not offer amex transactions.
The ANZ FF Black with 75k Q points on sign up and one of best point earner around is a good choice … for the first year anyway. https://www.anz.com.au/personal/credit-cards/frequent-flyer/…
I've gone through quite a few cards lately. Sometimes using a combination of amex and non-amex cards (the Coles Rewards combined with the Amex Edge was awesome). But I always go back to Coles Rewards as my go to card. Up there with the best earners but not disadvantaged by high annual fees or amex restrictions. As a bonus, it has the best merchandise/price protection policy.
This table may help but probably needs updating https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/4383266/redir
I find Amex Essential a good overall free card - its flexibility (points can transfer to 8 airlines, pay off charges), insurances (purchase/refund protection, extended warranty, and especially smartphone screen insurance). And eligibility for the Amex Cashback/Shop Small offers. For more info, my detailed post is here
Me too, ANZ Rewards just sharply reduced as well……more competition between banks /S
May help??
