Is this possible? I keep missing the evening Ebay deals as important business like football and children get in the way. Then I see the great deal I missed the next morning in the daily email with EXPIRED beside it….

it will be a good idea if you can subscribe to an item you are looking to buy but waiting for a deal on it.
Search for said item on top right of OzB. Click create alert. done.

Unfortunately you cannot subscribe to product tags directly, often users don't tag products or they are tagged incorrectly and our subscriptions happen at the time of posting. So when moderators or power users come around to fix/add tags to the deal it's too late and you won't receive a notification.
The next best thing is to create an alert which was the previous commenters were referring to, when you search just press return rather than clicking on the product. In your case you'll get to this screen: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/macbook+pro?t=b and you just press the 'create alert' link in the top right corner.
The reason we don't do tag email subscription is because tags aren't really filled out properly at posting time, where the email subscription is triggered. Often the moderators or power users have to come around to fix up the tags. Therefore it is unreliable.
