Thoughts on LG UJ654T Series

Thinking buying one but after reading reviews like "do not buy unless you want to be distracted by patchy backlight" from here are keeping me away. People who bought this TV from previous deals like this What are your thoughts ?

Is it really that bad? Can't find much information online

  • I cannot see if this has an IPS panel however if so, it suffers from DSE.

I would say that it is similar to the previous gen' LG UH770T (which I have) and I can say that the darks are crap as you can see the LED array back-light.

The picture quality is great and clear however if you need your blacks to be black then this is not the screen for you.

However, it is a good price.

    Price vs features?

    Cheers

    • Just buying to watch netflix and to use with xbox one s. Would it be really noticeable to annoy?

      • I use this TV for 4K gaming (PC) and love it.

However it has the 200Hz field refresh rate.
But I wouldn't believe this info too much as many manufacturers play with figures to generate a sale imho.

The best thing to do is to go to a retailer and see for yourself.
See if you can connect an Xbox if possible to it and see how the TV behaves.

Make sure you concentrate on how it behaves when it switches dark to light scenes.

I have heard from retailers that LG TV's are more reliable and don't come back as much as the other brands. However, I'm not saying it's bulletproof.
I have had mine since boxing day and still going strong.

I am actually using it right now and it crystal clear.

Please note it is not the same model as yours.

I am very confident this 10-Bit HDR is (8-Bit Native + 2Bit dithering) and not full 10-Bit HDR. Ask them?

Don't get sucked in and opt for the extended warranty rubbish and fight with ACL if something goes wrong IMO.

        Cheers

        • Thanks for your input, I am looking at 55 inch model of this series what series or model do you own? I have been to Harvey norman but they were not able to connect xbox. They only had their advertisement playing and it was placed next to Samsung QLED tv that I couldn't stop looking at clearity of QLED TV.

        • @Jimmy007:

Yes … it is not surprising they want you to spend $4K on a TV and everything is connected to it.
Tell them you are serious in buying (if they match that price) and them to connect the Xbox.
          They should help you.
          If not then walk away.

I have the 55" LG 55UH770T, which is a 2016 model however has Dolby Vision. HDR10 too.
