Hey all,
We are thinking about heading to Perth for a holiday for a week and wondered if anyone had any thoughts on things to do whilst there please?
Kids are 13 and love everything!
Open to your experiences and ideas…
Cheers,

From someone who has lived in Perth their whole life and travelled the country, I 100% agree with the above statement 😂
Harsh - possibly fair … I guess we will see!
When are you coming here?
@Spackbace: Thinking school holidays Late sep early Oct (ish)
Kk most things will be busy but weather will be good
Visit Rottnest Island. Get to take a ferry. You can ride bikes around the whole island. Has animals.
Thanks - thats one of the items I saw - quokka selfies! :)
Perth?!
Watch TV.
Go north towards the Ningaloo reef. A long drive, can be done in one very long day or split it over a couple of days with a stop at Shark Bay. Ningaloo has great snorkeling right off fantastic beaches. If you can give yourself an extra couple of days for the drive.
If they are into that sort of thing Scitech (science museum) is one of the best I have been to - heaps better than Scienceworks (Melbourne) or Powerhouse (Sydney). Has heaps of hands-on interactive stuff
Lots of good outdoor things to do
We went to Perth in July last year with then 10, 12 & 14 year olds.

Entry to park is free, pay as you go for activities.
Rode the tram, visited the motor & tractor museums.
Multiple playgrounds.
Take push bikes if you can borrow them from somewhere.
Bit of a drive, but an entertaining day for young family.
Kings Park and surrounds, there are multiple stopping points of interest. Drive from car park to car park and explore. Pokémon GO had just started when we were there, it was packed.
Walk/run/ride around Swan river. Flat terrain with a few bridges so can do a loop.
Caversham wildlife park is quite good - although better for foreign tourists as it had native flora and fauna.
Adventure world is the only theme park here - not too bad, although during school holidays it will be overrun. You should be able to get discounted tickets from Groupon/Scoopon (I think discounted tickets are ~$46 for Adults)
Going down south is nice although the teenage children might not really appreciate it. The Margaret River region is full of wineries, a few breweries, artisan food places etc. The beaches and national parks down there are quite nice too. Ah the serenity.
Fremantle is a place to visit although I think it is a dump haha
As others have mentioned, Kings park is probably the place to go in Perth, although that is really only a one day activity. If you/the children are still playing Pokemon Go it is also an excellent location for some Pokemon hunting haha.
Also, as you have mentioned, Rotto for Quokka selfies.
Looks like you can get tickets to rotto for $29pp which is a steal compared to their normal prices.
Adventure world - closest weve got to a theme park
The Pinacles (3 hour drive north) amazing landscape
Pemberton Tree top walk and tree climb - (3 hour drive south)
edit..
Also the Fremantle prison is great the Tunnel Tours are good fun
Anything to do with the Fremantle Prison is great. I have a bit of a thing for visiting prisons as sights and the Freo one is absolutely world class.
As a Perthite, I'd suggest the following:
1) Fremantle: Spend a day (at least) in Fremantle. If you're staying in the city, catch a ferry from Barrack square to Fremantle, takes about 1 hour. You can also come back to the city by ferry, but you need to follow the scheduled departure times, which is limiting. If you get a one-way ticket, go back to Perth on the train (takes about 40 minutes).
2) Kings Park: Visit Kings Park, there are buses or use Uber.
3) Hillarys: Visit Hillary's Boat Harbour (about 30 minutes from the city)
4) South West: Rent a car and visit the South West, Margaret River, Dunsborough, Busselton. Will take 2-3 days and if you want to go further afield, go to Albany, dropping in at Walpole, Denmark etc. (This is where the Valley of The Giants is as mentioned by Offal Spokesman above is.
Rottnest is OK, awesome in the summer, but it costs a fortune to get there and do anything once you get there.
Everything else worth seeing is miles away, we are the most remote capital city in the world!
Once at Perth airport, get on another flight to QLD to better spend your holiday
