That's pretty difficult to be honest. To find another couple who will just in the off chance want to go to the same location as you, at the same time, for the same period, live with you and everything will just tie in perfectly.
He should type "couple travelling airline beach" into Google, then click on "I'm feeling lucky"

Why don't you just stay at a backpackers? then you could share the cost with 7-13 people.

I didn't down vote you… but for what its worth my wife would absolutely love the idea,
would make the trip really awkward rooming with strangers, rather just save up a little more or stay somewhere cheaper.
Why not just airbnb using shared accommodation?
Find people on Ozbargain perhaps organise a meetup to start it off
Must provide free beer and eneloops, otherwise: Bikies.
Try couchsurfing, you can make a travel plan and ask people to join you. Maybe a backpacking couple?

A lot of hostels have kitchen amenities. Have a research of what's around.
Have a look at lonely planet they have a travel buddy forum, there is also a travel buddy sight just google . You don't have to live in one another's pocket just share expenses . But make sure they are respectful of others property or you maybe up for any damages or bond .
Not to be rude, but do you not have friends or relatives? Surely that beats having some stranger couple in your apartment?
