  • Any contract (6,12 or 24 months) month to month plan?
Website not very clear unless read all the terms and conditions…

  • "Offer available to selected GE Money customers who sign up online via store.vodafone.com.au/grabnow…."

so only valid if you've got a GE credit card

    shame :(

  • It also has: Offer available until 30 October 2010 to existing exiting GE Money customers/members/staff who sign up to the Samsung Jet on the $29 Cap over 24 months.

Do you have to get the Jet phone too?

  • damnsies.. if someone finds a deal like this open to all posties lol.. i am on da lookout for something like dis!

  • good deal just wish i could transfer the three account credit i have over to vodafone

  • It works fine im not a GE Customer and its a great deal

  • These aren't bad plans at all for those in need of wireless!

  • This is the standard Vodafone wireless broadband offer. BYO unlocked/Vodafone modem or phone, month-to-month payments, cancel or change plan at any time without any extra fees (i.e. no minimum contract period). Excess usage is charged at 2c per Megabyte (~$20 per GB). I switched to this when my original VF 24-month contract expired, and I think that the 10GB for $49 is the best wireless BB deal going. That being said, I don't think this qualifies as a bargain, since it's their regular offering, and has been for a couple of months, now.

    • Ah, no my mistake. I see that with this link, you get a free USB modem. It'll be locked to VF, but it's still nothing to sneeze at. If it works for everyone, then it's a deal.

      • But I got this equivalent deal 3 months ago, with a free modem. In that case it was 6GB @$39 with 2GB p/m free, so the same as this current 8GB/$39 with free modem.

ps, the modem is kind of crap, it doesn't have the antenna plug hole in the casing - apparently you can crack it open since the plug is there on the circuit board.

  • So can you just sign up for 1 month @ $15 then keep the modem and cancel the contract?

Does anyone know what modem it is?

  • I am really tempted to buy, but in the Terms and Conditions there are so many preconditions, e.g. GE customer, Samsung Jet cap etc. I am a bit worried might be charged a lot in the end. Thoughts, guys?

    • i did mine with no problems it says min cost is $15

      • Thanks jps433. The risk is this is not a once-off purchase. It is a "contract", which might mean they can keep your credit card info and charge you afterwards… I will see whether i can resist the temptation, might go ahead and try my luck:-)

  • I'm also really tempted, but the Ts & Cs aren't really clear. Also, I dont have a GE GO mastercard as I chose to keep the GE creditline instead of changing it…it also mentions selected members.

Can anyone confirm that you can get this mobile broadband by itself?

Nice find if it's open to all and sundry. Been trying to find a provider with a cheap 1.5GB/month deal.

    • I don't think they will be too strict on being a GE customer, they just want your business and a USB stick is nothing.

If you have any questions you could always call them up, and say your wife / husband / brother / mother / cousin received an offer and you're wondering if are eligible too cause you have a GE credit line card.

The ad I received did not mention anything about a Samsung Jet.

      • I did follow up and call as the online store has issues if your employer's telephone number is a 13xx number. Got the deal in the end after waiting nearly an hour getting bounced around.

No need to get a phone or anything else, they didnt even ask me if I was a GE customer.

        Thanks for the post!

        • They don't care, they just want their commission and you $$$! :)

  • Wish they had a discounted(or even free!) pocket Wifi option! That would be nice.

  • What model is the modem? If its the E1762 like the one I got from virgin it has an antenna plug

    • +1

No it'll be a K3765 - no plug, at least that's what I got 3 months ago from them on a similar deal. PS I use the Voda SIM in a E1762 unlocked from Virgin, the K3765 is just sitting here gathering dust.

      • why don't you use the K3765?

        • Cause I use an external antenna.

  • I found the offer, scanned it and have added the link up top.

Looks like 1 month minimum contract, and there is also an offer for the Samsung Jet (which I missed before).

  • i cant figure this out.. it looks to me as though u can just connect for one month and cancel etc.. but then the T&C starts going on about 24 months etc etc.. it really is confusing, but this is exactly what i am after so i dunno whether to get it or not.. lol

    • Just call them up and ask?

  • I just got my modem! It is a K3765.

    • me too, no confirmation required that I am a GE cardholder. 5min job to unlock the modem for free, see whirlpool

      • Haha, i did the unlock search straight away and found that post too:-) But i believe Vodafone hasn't charged me for anything (it is said charge $0, monthly charge $15), so if i go straight to other provider, what will happen next… I just score a free modem?

        • Oops~, just got an email from Vodafone confirming my mobile broadband service and saying

"You’ll receive your first bill within 6 – 10 working days after you joined. It includes a partial monthly charge that you won’t see on future bills. This charge covers the few days between joining and your monthly billing date. "

So it seems my monthly plans starts straight away without i activating it?! A bit confused. Can i start it when i need it? Help, anyone?

          • @Saturday: Just watch out for that first paper bill guys. Mine said $0, but about 10 days before payment was due the online bill was updated to the correct amount, but no paper bill. They cut you off straight away if you don't pay, using some weird error code RAS 619 (its not a billing error code), it comes back to life when you pay.

  • Just got off the phone to customer service, after a 1 hour wait. They are saying if I choose to cancel then I pay $15 x the remainder of months left in the contract. In this case $15 x 24 months = $360. Going to cancel tomorrow.

    • Oh, my goodness. Not one month minimum? That will be very expensive for me…

    • what?? for real? can someone confirm this?

  • I am trying to get further confirmation from Vodafone. Their information is conflicting.

    • If you have to get out of it and the contract is conflicting, the TIO will be happy to take on a complaint.

      • Hmmm was thinkin of ordering this to try out for a few months without any committment but am now hestitant.

Can anyone confirm it is a 24 month contract? Just noticed the details on the website now changed from "Vodafone USB Modem - month to month" to now "Vodafone USB Modem - Contract".

        • I just went to the site and couldn't see contract. It still said month by month.

Anyway I got an email from VF stating that its month by month and if I cancel all I will pay is $15. Also the lady said I can keep the modem.

So can someone link me how to amend my -ve vote as I couldn't find it in the forums as a sticky nor in the wiki.

          • @[Deactivated]: your vote was revoked as per your request.

In future you can revoke your own votes by clicking "votes" in the top right corner, find your name, then click "revoke"

          • @[Deactivated]: Sweet, good outcome.

  • Update: Just got my first bill (~$18 due to pro-rata).

Called up to cancel (waited 45mins +). Got offered $7 recurring discount from next bill onwards, making my monthly fee only $8 for 1.5gigs

    • Good to hear that. 45 mins+ waiting is not nice, i may have to go through that sometime soon:( Would you know how much total to pay out if cancel it now? I only occasionally need mobile internet and need to cancel it anyway.

  • I finally called through to cancel my service today and was offered three months free service and i decided to keep it for the time being and cancel after three months. So just $18 something with total 4 months services and a usb modem, pretty good!
