  • Looks like good specs & price however I noticed on a google search that these things seem to have lots of issues with the trackpads?

    • +9

the way the track pad works is different, you must learn to use the trackpad differently as the button is built into the trackpad so you need to apply less force when using the trackpad as it also doubles as the actual mouse button, when you depress the pad it will click down like a button.
Very easy to get used too once you understand this is actually how it was designed to be and it is not a fault.
MLN has sold over 10,000 of the G560 and we are not aware of one faulty trackpad. The issue is with understanding how to use this new design, a slight behavioural modification is required as people tend to press down on the track pad when scrolling. You just need to brush over the trackpad, and depress the trackpad only when you want it to click like a mouse button.
It is actually a very nice trackpad to use once you understand how to use it.

        • +15

back to school for you then.

I found it easy to understand.

        • lol… you are funny.

    • +3

Ever heard of a mouse ;)
Solves the issues one may have with a dodgy trackpad.

  • I would say this is a good deal. I bought similar type of laptop 1 year ago for the same price (except with t4200 CPU) and its been perfect. 4 gig ram, win 7 ultimate. :D

  • OK price for the spec….

    However,Centre.com got the same deal

Guys just so you know the alternate version you guys are comparring this model too is different to the version we have on offer, I am able to verify this as we have the other model also available as demo stock in store and I have comparred the part numbers.
    major differences are

:wireless b/g wifi card compared to MLN's which is a wireless b/g/n, (wireless n is 5 times faster than g.)

:HDMI is on the MLN version and not on the other version,

:E-SATA is on the MLN version and not on the other version,

:Brushed aluminium palm rest is on the MLN version and the other has a cheap plastic chassis.

:Black Piano gloss finish is on the MLN version as to other version which has the textured plain black chasis

:There is no comparrison in side by side lookswise, both machines are available in any MLN store for physcial comparrison and you guys can make your own mind up on the difference, which I beleive is significant.

:Our machine also comes standard with the 4GB ram preinstalled and is not aftermarket memory, aftermarket RAM will cause complications with your warranty and the stability of your system. We have not tampered with our model.

:MLN also does not have a surcharge on Visa, Mastercard and Eftpos, while our competitors charge from 1.5%-3%. Which translates to a $8.90 to $17.97 saving on $599.

Thanks for clearing that up. Always good to have REP online (and doing his job).
Although, CentreCom's 067968M does have BGN.

      • thank you
the spec keeps changing, everytime I click on the other link.

  • Does this laptop has bluetooth?

    • This notebook does not come standard with bluetooth.
If bluetooth is essential we have the Targus USB Ultra-Mini Bluetooth Adapter for $22, this is a very small adaptor and is barely noticeable when inserted into the USB port.

      • MLN,

Do you sell 15.6" laptops that have screen resolutions higher than 1366x768?

        • -1

They do. You can find them on the MLN website.

      • +3

Or one from DealExtreme for $2.

    Good deal :)

  • Seems like a pretty sweet deal. What do you guys think of this deal compared to the old Toshiba catch of the day sale? http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/30139
We got the Toshiba laptop and it works great.. just wondering if Lenovo's are much different, etc?

    • I would go for the toshiba one for $599

      • 14" machines are different in size and are cheaper to produce, the cost of a 14" machine on average spec on spec is around $75-$100 less than the same 15.6" equivelant, mainly because the world market consumes more 14" notebooks so they are mass produced for a cheaper price, but in Australia they are not as popular as the 15.6" format and do not sell anywhere near as well as they do in Asia where 14" is the standard size.
14" notebooks are dumped by major manufacturers for cheap prices into Australia all the time becuase of this reason.
This just applys to mainstream notebooks and not speciality high end or super-portable machines.

        • Interesting comment. Last time I put a 15inch notebook on here as a deal, a few people complained that it wasnt 14inch.

But I prefer 15inches over 14 inches too.

          • @Lenneth: I'd be more than happy with 14 inches. ;)

            • +2

@Chris: this sounds almost sexual. but i too prefer 14 inches. :)

            • +2

              @Chris: That's what she said.

does it come with microsoft office?

    • +3

MS office is never included in any sort of package.

    • lol. MS office would be almost the same price as the laptop.

  • Has anyone tried these Lenovo Laptops. They seems pretty cheap in MLN website.

  • Hi MLN

Centrecom just released a better offer
Lenovo G560 Core i3,6GB ram,500GB HDD $609 With OZB Coupon
    Check http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/32181#comment-287055 for details

Can you offer bonus RAM to match this? (Happy to pay $609 same as centrecom)

    • +1

once again they are different versions,
please read my above post and explanation
I have already stated the differences above.

There is a big difference in the casing and chassis with these models, both with features and specs, we have both on display in store and you can see for yourself.

You can always upgrade your RAM, but you cant change the shell, the mousepad, casing, chassis, add a new paint job and add additional internal ports like HDMI and E-Sata to your notebook.
One 4GB RAM module is around $45 anyway.

We also do not charge certain credit card fees and adding all these aftermarket memory options void your warranty.

At the end of the day, you guys should decide whats best for you.
If you want the cheaper chassis with performance you can go for the $699 version MLN has which has the Core i5 processor (much better than just adding ram), 4GB ram and 500 gb HDD minus the premium gloss black chasis, and HDMI features. This would be a much better option if you want performance and features like HDMI dont matter to you, than putting in extra RAM, as you can still add more RAM later on to this version as well, but you have the significantly better processor to start with, the Core i5 processor has Turbo boost.

Or for $799 MLN also has the G560 with the premium piano black chassis with brushed aluminium and all the features that our $599 version has, such as HDMI and a top end i5 processor with turbo boost and with 4gb RAM, 500 GB hard drive, plus you can add RAM to it later as well. This is the best value at $799.

The choice is your guys, we have 3 great G560's available for your requirements.
None of which will cause you warranty issues, and you save on credit card fees.
      :)

        • +1

Yes we can match and beat anyones deals, our deal is better anyway, what I am I supposed to match, the machines are different?
Add the numbers up and you will see what is better value yourself.

The choice is your guys, MLN has 3 great G560's available for your requirements available both online or instore.

$599, Premium chassis with added features and benefits
$699, standard chassis with Core i5 processor
$799, Premium chassis with added features and benefits as well as top end Core i5 processor

If you want to add RAM you can now or later, if thats what you want.
None of the above as standard available from MLN will cause you warranty issues if you do not upgrade the RAM as 4GB is standard on all our 3 versions for which I beleive 4 GB is plenty anyway, and you save on credit card fees as well.
          :)

        • hahahaha… It's not comparing Apples with Apples mate. It's more an Orange and Mandarin. Similar but different.

MLN has nothing to beat it against… but MLN can word it like this if you really want to… "We'll beat Centrecom by $1, but for an extra $1 dollar for a grand total of $599, we'll throw in HDMI port, eSata and a better chassis…and if you buy through MLN, we'll even waive the credit card surcharge…

          Sounds pretty good to me.

  • +1

    MLN's better

    • I was going to say, if you don't need a HDMI Port or eSata and don't care about the look, the Centrecom's 6 gig ram offer is pretty good for an extra 10 bucks + credit card surcharge. However 6 Gig ram is overkill for a i3 chip anyway, and without an HDMI port, you've limited the entertainment value of the machine.

So yes, MLN's is definitely better.

However MLN - be sure to check out this new competitor - www.digitalcentre.com.au . They seem to do the same deals as Centrecom and have a pretty big range.

        Guys
MLN has been selling laptop computers for about 10 years.
We have been specialists in mobile computing since day one.
We did not just decide to sell laptops last week, last year or 5 years ago when everyone else did becuase they thought it was a good idea.
I have been with the company for the same amount of time of around 9 years and I can only comment on what we do and I beleive our company structure and philosophy about providing the best possible value to our customers is true not only becuase we beleive in it, but becuase we implement and practice this in reality and over time hopefully all of you guys will also notice this as well and benefit from it.
        :)
At the end of the day you guys decide on where you wish to buy your products from and you should all buy from the place you determine to be the best.
        The choice is yours.

        • +3

Cheers Mate - love your service and communication

          • @Bappy: eSata, HDMI and case are more important to me, I just picked mine up from MLN :-)

  • -1

Hi MLN Can you offer free post ? Not bad idea :))

    • -1

      Free shipping is good.
      Free shopping is even better.

    • +1

sorry we cannot offer free shipping, the cost is actually a lot higher than $29 for the TNT service we use. MLN does not use budget carriers and couriers as the products we send tend to be of high value and we use a premium service, this service actually costs the company a lot more than $29 per item. (sometimes up to 150% more!)

Though some may consider this as expensive, budget carriers cause more headache and loss than they are worth and we have the experience and numbers to back this claim up.
This $29 covers insurance, online tracking, door to door delivery and signature/id with tracking/proof. Other companies do charge a lot more than $29 for the same premium delivery service that we use.

It is all part of MLN's commitment to providing the best value where possible as "cheaper" usually means "nastier', MLN aims to provide the best value and best price where possible without compromising the end result. No point charging $15 per delivery if 1 out of 10 parcels go missing or get damaged.

MLN's $29 service is also a specialised service that offers overnight delivery to major cities as a default where possible. We also offer a free re-delivery included as part of the $29, if nobody is available at the address on the initial delivery attempt, a card will be left with details for you to contact the local TNT courier and organise a time that would suit you.
All of this is part of the $29 fee for laptop computers other products like netbooks and hard drives are less.

  • +1

wow, just reading the replies from MLN rep has made me feel how good the service is already. Been tempted for months to get a laptop to replace my netbook. I'm impressed I still haven't bought one ^_^

  • I bought this a couple of days ago. It's amazing - great machine with a fabulous set of features for the price. I am also very impressed at the customer service I received in person at the Peel St Melbourne store (Dean ….you ROCK !)and over the phone. I also agree with "mysrh" about the quality of the replies from the MLN rep on this thread - helpful, not aggressive (even with the barrage of challenges he/she has received about whether the deal is good/the best or not) and with constructive, well written content that actually addresses and doesn't avoid the questions asked :O)…. Top marks from me for the MLN rep(s) both on this forum and in store. I've only just discovered MLN, and I can absolutely guarantee this will be where I bring my custom from here on. The bargains I saw in store and in the MLN catalogue are amazing across both PCs/notebooks and peripherals !

  • I bought one for my wife and set it up last night - the screen quality is very good, better I'd say than my $1300 ASUS!

She's very fussy and thought she would have issues with the trackpad but no complaints so far so it must be okay.

Once you remove the Lenovo "bloatware" and trialware its a great machine.

  • Hey guys and gals,

Haven't had a Windows PC for about 10 years (been running Macs), but now need one for work.

Would the $599 (067943M) be capable of running office, mindjet, rfflow and non intensive games, or is it worth the extra couple of hundred to get the 067989M for future proofing, additional features etc?

Also, what is the battery life like?

Sorry for the newby question, but I thought this would be a good place to ask.

    Thanks in anticipation.

    • It will run any of these applications.

battery life is between 1.5 hours and 4 hours depending on usage.

A core i5 processor is much better than an i3 processor

you will will find these computers have the same spec and technology as Apple but at 1/3 of the price, the hardware is the same.

  • Is there any of G560 model come with NVIDIA® GeForce® G310M?

    • I owned a Core 2 Duo 2 Ghz laptop mainly use for web browsing, spreadsheet, ripping, image processing; and I would like to get a new laptop to replace the old one. What is your recommendation i3 / i5? Is G560 i3 machine faster than my old laptop? Is it very significant on the performance between G560 i3 and i5?

    • not at the moment from my knowledge (in relation to graphics cards)

There is a significant difference between,
      i3, i5 and in turn i7
performance wise the difference between i3 and i5 comes down to graphics enabled technologies and turbo boost features.
If you have the time, you should read the intel website it will explain all the key features in
Atom, ULV, C2D, i3, i5 and i7 processors and what they mean to you.

I am always going to tell you there is something faster and better because in the world of computing there always is when you want to spend more
      :)

The reality is though i3 is plenty for the tasks you will probably need it for, but there is always better.

      • Thanks. I'll place my order now. How long does it take to deliver?

  • How do I buy this in Sydney? I am unable to access MLN website to order online

  • I am not going to buy from you right now mln, but when our family does need a new laptop I will be buying from you. Damn impressed with your customer service and confidence in your product. Who ever is your customer service rep in this thread is an asset to your company.
