Good price, and banggood / blitzwolf have good rep imo, but the single USB port kills it for me :/

    • The single port is what makes it so impressive for me, as far as I'm aware it's one of the only QC 3.0 chargers with a direct AU plug (not an AU figure 8 cable).

Edit: Even a dodgy looking, unknown brand 2.0 charger is $25 + delivery at Kogan, this has 3.0 and is $15 + delivery cheaper

I see what you're saying though - the multiport chargers are great, but if you need a portable single port charger this is one of the only options without adapters or cables for AU plugs.

      • +1

        $22.48 for 3 USB ports (2x 2.4A, 1x QC3.0).

        EU/UK/AU/US plugs.

It's not 3x QC3.0 ports, but it's good enough. You can charge 3 devices with it. I don't even have 3 QC3.0 devices.

It's not $10, but it's better than the Kogan one you linked to. There do exist multiports with AU header for cheaper than $25.

        • I compared it to the Kogan one due to 4 main factors:

          1. AU plug (without adapter)
          2. No external cable (no figure8)
          3. QC2.0+
          4. Known brand

The Kogan isn't a known brand, but meets 3/4 of the features. The one you linked meets 2.5/4 (half a point because the adapter mechanism looks half decent, but it's still an adapter).

Also note 2.4A ports are extremely cheap, there was recently a 5 port for ~$12. This places the value at around only $2-3/port. Great feature if you need them, but $12 extra for nothing if you don't.

Overall, personal preference is a lot of it. I personally prefer a single port charger and a 5/6 port with figure8 cable. I've never really wanted/needed a 3/4 port direct plug charger.

    • How about the Blitzwolf BW-S7 then? (One QC port, four normal ports)
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/222514273060 and previously mentioned here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/253648
The AU edition sits at just under $23.
I couldn't find evidence of an Ebay 'Top Seller' rating for this seller so I'm uncertain as to whether it meets Ebay deals posting policy.

  • Based on what I received (from previous deal), I am not so sure it is really a QC 3.0. It supports 5V, 9V and 12V (QC 2.0), but what is written on the adapter does not indicate it can support voltages in between. I tried it on a device that's QC 3.0 compatible, and it charges at 9V initially. QC 3 chargers suppose to support up to 20V I thought.

I don't have a true QC 3.0 charger to really compare though, even the Motorola charger I have has the same type of output rating (which is really just QC 2.0).

    • Correct. A true QC 3.0 charger should charge from 3.7V to 20V.

Edit: Let me rephrase. QC 3.0 supports voltage up to 20V, but many devices which currently employ QC 3.0 do not use and/or support voltages over 12V, so 20V is often left out or disabled by the charger manufacturers.

      • I also checked BlitzWolf's site. Their definition is that QC 3.0 is 3.7V to 12V variable voltage. QC 2.0 is 5, 9 and 12V. It could be just incorrect labeling as I seem to recall seeing 7V from the voltmeter briefly with that charger.

        • Quick Charge 3.0 offers a more granular range of voltages: 200mV increments, from 3.6V to 20V.

          From Qualcomm

      • My Samsung phone has a USB-Type C fast charger, the charging adapter has an output of 5V-9V and it's a QC3.0

        • Which phone? Samsung use Adaptive Fast Charge which is based off and backwards compatible with Qualcomm's Quick Charge.

        • +1

Manufacturers are basically using a slightly different definition. They feel that QC 3.0 is more about 18W and variable voltage (rather than step voltage changes in QC 2.0).

It is probably not a big deal considered that a lot of phone manufacturers don't even provide a QC charger for their phones and even for the ones which provide one, they often provide QC 2.0 chargers (despite the phones support QC 3.0).

        • I am betting the charger is qc2.0 but the phone supports qc3.0
That's what our LG V20 is, the supplied charger is 2.0 but the phone supports 3.0.

The BW-S6 (dual ports) has been out of stock for so long :(

    • +2

I'm dying for a dual port one. :(

      • Also keen for a dual port

      • If you're okay with it being used, I'll sell you one of mine. Only one port is QC3 though.

        • Thanks for the kind offer. But its ok.. I've picked up a Verbatim one from Woolies. One 2.4 and one 1.0A. I'll use it for work for now and wait for the newer model. Think the older model has some problems with regulation and hence why they pulled it off the market. So probably use with care.

        • @bchliu: I've got the old one and have wondered why they pulled it, do you have a link to what the problem is?

        • @tryagain: Sorry. It is speculation on my part based upon the response I got from the Rep here. That the last batch was the only batch that got made before it was pulled out and that they were creating a "Better" one with "improvements" that have been going on for ages.

Then again, having a look at a strip down of it:
          http://lygte-info.dk/review/USBpower%20BlitzWolf%2030W%20QC3…

Doesnt look like there was much cooling involved with it due to the small size. The core of it reached up to 75c, which is pretty arguable whether that is too hot for a charger.

        • +1

@bchliu: I had suspected similar based on the same as you but hadn't seen anything, my one has copped a flogging so far and is still going strong.

        • @tryagain: Does it get really hot at full capacity? Just curious.. Thanks

        • +1

@bchliu: Never even noticed it warm but never really checked for it either, seldom charge two devices at once as well.

We are developing an upgraded version of the S6 and it is due to launch in 6 weeks. It will have increased power and each port will have a separate Power3S safety circuit. We will post up a deal on OZ when it is available. - Store Repbanggood on 26/05/2017

I've tried pressing for a response from them but to no luck at all unfortunately.

So i would presume that the BW-S6 won't be coming back, which is a shame..

      • +1

Me too, ended up jumping on this one for $10

      • Contacted their rep tonight:

        banggood on Sat, 29/07/2017 - 20:49
Yeap,we are improving this charger,it will be much better than the old version
It will be on preorder within two weeks

        Fingers crossed…

  • Good if you need a new charger now, but I'd wait till more USB-C PD chargers become available, or at least 45W usb-C chargers become more available.

  • Can you buy an additional (non-AU) plug adapter for travel use?

  • What's the adapter like? Is it a cheap one or a proper one?

    • +2

      It's a cheap proper one.

  • +3

Just a heads up, you can purchase the proper AU version, for just 19 cents more!

    • That's the one in the post…

You get a better rate if you pay in USD with a fee free card (price in title), otherwise it's 19 cents more if you pay in AUD.

      • Sorry for the confusion, it's just the OP listed it coming WITH an adaptor, when in fact there is an AU option, with no adaptor required.

        All the best

  • .
Thanks hamza23 You can order the version with our AU plug (one of 4 to choose from) when ordering, I got one and a couple of those braided cables (audio & Type C)

  • +1

Can you buy these with USB C cable instead of Micro USB?

  • All Gone just got 2 just in time.

  • they ran out of BW-S6 for like ever. they stopped manufacturing the model?

  • It's 10.99 USD now..

  • Can we have a deal on BW-S6 if it will be in stock soon.
    https://www.banggood.com/Qualcomm-Certified-BlitzWolf-BW-S6-…

  • Thanks OP bought 2 just then.

  • +1

LOL they seem to have changed the price back to $7.99usd must have a few to get rid of.

  • Thanks op

  • Thanks OP, just bought 3

  • Looks good. I have been using this fast charger though for 6 months and so far so good: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/401254660979

    • But this isnt quick charge 3.0

      • True. Mine is just a quick charger. Doesn't say 3.0.

        • FYI, Quick Charge or QC is a technology that can for example like mine charge 75% of your battery in 30 mins. I believe it does this by increasing the voltage

  • Is this compatible with nexus 6P?

  • I already had 2 of the BW-S6 AU version and just bought two of these to add to the collection. Thanks OP!

  • Nearly bought this last week for full-price, luckily I waited, thanks.

  • What's the difference in charging speed between this charger and the others of generic brand available on eBay such as http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/401254660979? I guess this eBay one isn't technology specific but just faster than the basic/ regular ones. Please help me understand the difference.

    • that one isn't fast charge. generally fast charge is 2.4A or more - and will make a big difference with QC compatible phones

      • Understood. Thanks! The eBay one above is still much faster than the original one I received with phone though. I don't know technical different between both.

  • Would this rapidly charge a Nexus 5X?

    • +1

Up to 5V/2.4A. No Qualcomm QC tech in the 5X.

  • Thank you needed for my Mi5s without having to use a stupid adapter.

  • +1

    Received mine today

  • Purchased. Was looking for a charger and thought why not.Hope Banggood deliver without an issue (bought that bluetooth tripod as well).
Price came out to $10.40 for me however…

    • Thanks I'll update the AU price, the exchange rate is a little worse off since this deal was posted in July.
