Roadside assist service - NRMA vs others

Hi bargainers,

I need to find a good value for money road side assist service. For the past 5 yrs I've had free Mitsubishi road assist with my ASX as pay of the fixed price servicing. I've never had to use it though.

This is for NSW.

I know nrma is the benchmark but what about others? I think AAMI and GIO offer it but not sure about about the T&C.

Do the others compare well to NRMA?

  • I've been with Coles car insurance and they charge $75 extra for roadside assistance from memory. When I have used it it has been NRMA or alliance that have turned up, so obviously coles just outsource it and the service has been fine.

  • I think they are all pretty comparable?
There's quite a few out there. I know it's not scientific, but maybe try and observe what service cars you notice in your area?

Allianz, budget direct, ultra tune are some cheaper ones.

I've had no issues with Allianz in the past, from memory it was $89 per year. There's also a cheaper company but I can't vouch for them, others may be able to: https://www.roadsideassistance-1.com.au/

Allianz are great! $89 per year (or so…).

I locked my daughter in the car and within 10 minutes of my call they had the car open (without breaking a window) and were pretty much on their way to another job.

Yeah, kid locked in car would be high priority I assume. Good of them to divert to you on the way to another job (if I am understanding correctly).

  • Yeah. I agree and exactly the kind of thing I want roadside assist for. Although, baby doesn't get to hold the keys anymore!

  • I do quite a bit of NSW country driving. Has anyone had any experiences with Allianz in the country areas?
