That is a great price. I paid around $479 for mine when it came out earlier this year. Its a great monitor. Native 75hz too, does't require freesync

    • Still on the fence on this one, the monitor not being curved, does that length strain your eyes in any way?

      • it does in prolonged use

      • +2

I haven't found it to. Any bigger than 29" though and I would want a curve. I also wouldn't get the 34" in 1080p

the monitor not being curved, does that length strain your eyes in any way?

It may damage your eyes like all other monitors at the same distance.

For some reason people are using the word "strain" as though your eye is doing physical exercise and it pulls a muscle … which is just silly.

What happens with all monitors is that your eyes may lose focus away from the computer due to constantly focusing on a screen that's 2 or 3 feet away. This is not a strain, maybe it's muscles atrophying, not sure. Anyhow, some people end up requiring vision correction (glasses) from staring at a screen to long.

The way to mitigate this is take breaks and spend 5 minutes looking at stuff many metres away every hour or more, using your eyes to focus on things that are not a few feet away.

Not sure why it's so cheap but get on it!

    It will break.

  • Is this good for watching movie?

    • +37

Yes, good for dramas, thrillers, adventure, romance and pornos too.

      • +1

        Horrors? Arthouse?

        • +13

No, just dramas, thrillers, adventure, romance and pornos.

        • @loftizle: thanks for confirming. This is not the deal for me then.

I'll be elsewhere looking for eneloops….

      • +1

        Can confirm. Amazing for Porns

If you have the space and budget go for the 34”. You’ll gain so much more height.

If you’re working in Office you’ll be able to show three documents easily. If you’re into gaming or movies it’ll be that much grander.

If you need help on working out what size monitor to get here’s a simple and great site…

The 34" is only 2560x1080, not the 3440x1440 you want however.

      • If your budget can spread to get a higher res 34" that'd be ideal.

Balance between budget, size and res.

      • Its a good point though, does anyone have the 2560x1080 34"?
Does it look silly? Icons must be huge.
        Deciding between 29" vs 34".

        1080 vertical sucks tho.
29" is 32cm, vs 34" is 37cm tall (screen only)

        • +2

          The 34" 1080P model effectively looks like a 27 inch 1080P.

          While the 29" 1080P looks like a 23 inch 1080P monitor.

        • I grabbed the 34" off eBay a few weeks back for $400. Doesn't look silly at all, icons not huge. Definitely can tell the difference in sharpness from a 29" which I upgraded from though. 34 is noticeably less sharp, but still looks amazing ESPECIALLY for movies. Aspect ratio is perfect for these.

Isn't as ideal for gaming as 29" for me because I sit too close and can't see everything on the screen at once anymore. Default refresh rate of 60hz is annoying and causes eye strain if you try to read lots. Going to try 75hz soon (isn't enabled by default despite what the specs say)

        • @wozz: It definitely is enabled by default if you have the same model as here. Ensure you are using display port and select 75hz in either windows or your gpu settings

        • @jmadden91:
using HDMI. That might be why? Will have another look

  • gone?

  • +1

How does 1080p look on a 29 inch monitor? Would it make sense to get something like a 1440p monitor at that size?

EDIT: I think the item got removed…

    • +1

It's only the height of a 24", so 1080p is fine.

      • +1

Ah, so it is! Thanks man!

  • damn right when I was going to bite…

  • Awww, Me thinks it's gone :(

  • +1

Not sure what the difference is as I can't look at the monitor in the OP as it no longer exists, but for those who missed out, using the PLAYER code, this Ultrawide LG 29" comes to $294.20.delivered. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/29-LG-29UM58-P-UltraWide-Full-HD-…

    • Cheers champ!

    • +1

I believe the difference is the lack of AMD FreeSync.

      • Also only has HDMI input

  • I managed to grab one just before it expired! Thanks OP!

  • -5

Sounds cheap but by it probably lacks freesync

Same monitor. After 20%, it is around $360 though.

  • I went to dandenong msy and bought one from there. It was showing no stock online though. So its better to call if anybody need one.

  • Will this charge a macbook pro? It has USB-C

    • +1

USB-C is charging with 7 Watts, also in the back there is 1.5 A, 5 W

      • thank you. so it only out puts 7W of power. hmm not enough

  • +4

    Looks like it's back up?

    • True, in stock at ALL locations. MSY must have bought a boat load more due to the recent demand.

    • I can confirm I can see that price.

      • I think its limited stock. I just grabbed one at Mitcham Vic, only one left the guy said.

        • Did u grab the last one or is there one left?

        • @MuffinLion: there's one left after I grabbed one at 5:55pm today. I am using the monitor now, very great for multitasking office stuffs and gaming. Recommended! No height or rotation adjustment though but u can tilt, came with usb-c port and also this model is 2017 new release I believe.

        • Thanks mate, I'll call up tmr to see if they still have it. If not I will just order it online !

  • I have the 29 inch 'regular' version of this monitor (just 60hz and no freesync, but I don't game on it so I don't care).

Fantastic screen for the money. If you're coming from anything but IPS the colours will look good. The pixel density is also fine for the size.

Personally, I'd rather the better pixel density on the slightly smaller screen than paying more for the same real estate on the 34 inch version. This is fine for me for 2 apps wide for productivity.

Of course, the 1440P 34" are a solid step forward. But they're upwards of $700 so its a different buying equation all together and if I was spending $700 I'd be buying triple monitors, not one 34 inch screen.

    • +1

No they are not, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/305864 they are not ultrawide but they are 32 inch 1440p, one has Freesync the other is IPS. And soon we will have 32 inch 1440p @ 144hz (Samsung already has 1 monitor out).

      • Thats true you can get 1440p screens pretty cheap if you dont mind the sub-tier brands, but ultrawide still requires a fair premium

        • I do not get the ultrawide craze, I am actually searching for normal size monitors as they are better supported for gaming. If I need productivity I will have some vertical monitors anyway next to the main monitor.

        • Also I find 2560x1080 the most strange rezolution ever, barely wide enought to get 2 windows side by side. I guess I am more of a 16:10 (not 9) kind of guy. I need more code on the screen, not wider windows :).

        • @misu p: I picked up my LG 1440p Ultrawide this week and am loving it. Only found a handful of games not supporting it so far and every game that does looks phenomenal so personally its worth the premium. I think the ultrawide movement is only recently gaining steam

        • @GossipGoat: If you dont mind me asking, what monitor did you get and is it ozbargain post worthy? I am on the market for a 1440p ultrawide…

        • @everydayrewards: Nothing ozbargain worthy, I bought the LG34UM95 from MSY for $935

        • @GossipGoat: ahh cheers - seems like a reasonable price

  • +2

I'm pretty sure this is still going as I just went to the link and it says $309 with stock levels green across the board. Was able to add to cart but won't be going ahead with purchase.

  • Might have a bite at this one! Would it be good for someone not for gaming but for productivity and programming?

  • Purchased, price wayyy to good to pass up. Been looking to only spend 300 so it fits the budget

  • Ordered last night and it got cancelled by the Clayton store, asked if they had stock elsewhere and they said no

    • Did u order online for delivery? I just put an order through and it hasn't been cancelled yet. Fingers crossed since they took my money already.

  • I ordered one from Auburn for pick up but they didn't reply so I ordered one for delivery yesterday night. Auburn has just confirmed stock for me so anyone who wants the monitor for 309 pick up from Auburn drop me a PM!
