Focal ES165KX2 Splits $799 @ Life Style Store eBay

20
COZZIE

Awesome splits at a great price if you are in the market.

Life Style Store are authorised Focal dealer so local warranty on these ones.

You can get them cheaper from Ryda by applying the PLAYER code running on eBay at the moment - HOWEVER Ryda's are grey import. Genuine Focal I would expect but not Australian stock which impacts the warranty.

Of all the top brands Focal are my preference because the bright sound suits my taste.

  • As a reference, FHRX Studios are listing these as $1,099, which is probably the RRP. I'm guessing these go head-to-head with the Hertz MLK 165.3, which are the splits I'd upgrade to if I had more cash.

    • Any idea if FHRX still have 12 month wait lists for installs?

      • LOL, that sounds ridiculous. I've read that they do quality work, probably in the top 3 in the country, but I've never used their services personally.

        • I once asked them for a quote for a focal underseat subwoofer/amp. I got a quote back for $3k worth of unnecessary shit.

Ended up buying an off the shelf OEM integration package suited to my car, installed, for half what they quoted.

FHRX has a good name, but they're taking the piss IMO

Edit: and for the record - quality is comparable to the focal if not better

Edit 2: I've bought from lifestyle store before, they're every bit as serious as a lot of other Audio stores. Welcoming blokes. They actually talked me out of a $3k home audio purchase for a $1k amp purchase instead.

  • I had to click the link and read the description to figure out what these are - car speakers by the look of them. Before tonight, I thought that "splits" were a type of icy-pole with icecream in the middle.

    • I think they were called redskin splits for a time, until the mainstream realised that's racist

  • Keep in mind there are a lot of other high quality options at a much lower price going o/s. We still cop it with car audio locally.

I have a few sets of high end components (Rainbow Germaniums, Alpine Type X Reference etc..). I bought the Alpines o/s delivered for under 300 bucks. Local RRP at the time was $800 or so.

    • I have the Germaniums, love them. Bought at FHRX after comparing with about other 7-8 pairs.

      • When i mentioned i had germaniums i wanted installed (in the above comment) i got the third degree about where i got them (i knew the distributor a few distributors ago, swapped him a set for some concert tickets and a phone haha)

  • Quality shit but will never spend this much on speakers.

    • If you spend a lot of time in your car, it can be a good investment. I've had my Rainbows for over 10 years, still sound great.
