Ive had a gtx780 thats been refunded 2 weeks before its 3yr warranty finished because of a faulty display port (yes took a month) but i put the difference towards a 1080. Just remember that the competition only gives 12moths vs 3 yrs at ca. Its a great australian business that gives you excellent deals and does not mark up its prices like the rest of the grubs on ebay !!! And a flat rate of $15 is a bargain !!

  • Could you please consider stocking the asus dual gtx 1070 in the future?

As far as I'm aware, it is the only gtx 1070 that is under 260mm in length and supports 0db fans in idle.

edit: oh, seems you do stock it, just not on the ebay store. :(

    • +7

      This one? https://www.computeralliance.com.au/asus-gtx1070-8gb-oc-pcie…

We only have 3 in stock so the system has reserved them for shop sales at the moment, but i can yell at purchasing to order some more.

Edit 5 mins later…: stuff it, will take a while to get more stock so I have manually overridden the buffer level to push put 2 up on eBay and physically checked stock to make sure they are there. Could only find 2 in our general warehouse sealed and new. ……. and thats a reason we leave a small buffer on all stock listed on ebay, don't want to sell one to find the last one missing, opened etc…..another job for warehouse guys tomorrow to find the last one.

      • yeah that's the one.
I just noticed you do have a gigabyte itx one, but that only has 1 fan, so not as good cooling.

So.. there's a chance you could put the asus one on the ebay store? :O …. Same price as the gigabyte listed?

edit: Oh I see it now! Thanks. Will mull it over tonight!

      • +2

Went for it. Thanks for doing that I really appreciate it :).

  • +2

Some nice gear, i like the idea of a ebay store also having a real, physical bricks and mortar presence.

The only thing really missing on your store is pre-built systems, specifically gaming ones.

If you could whip up a system similiar to the dell one everyone has an e-boner for

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-XPS-8920-Tower-Desktop-7th-G…

That dell one was $1480 not long ago and people flipped, use it as a baseline.

Whip up a similiarly specced system and price it so that with 20% it hovers around the $1500-1800 mark delivered.

I think you'd see them fly off the shelves.

    • +2

You are dead right about the desktops. We are one of the biggest system builders in the country and its a bit embarrassing to see a mob like Dell even appear to coming close to what we can do in quality or price. We built the company on doing better than any multinational on desktops.

eBays interface is not great for desktops and our preconfigured systems that we could dump up there tend to be a bit neglected even on our own site nowadays (I really need to fix that!). Most of our desktop sales are customised, sometimes based on a preconfigured templates on our site but infinitely flexible, and sold by real people (well, if you call sales staff real people) talking with and working through the best balance and options for each build - with individuals and corporates. Our largest customer alone has bought 10s of thousands of desktops from us. Dell indeed. Still embarrassed that anyone needs to ask the question.

Its on my to do list!

  • Do you contribute to the discount or is it all funded by eBay?

Already used my three transactions with your guys for this ;)

    • +2

The site wide deals we just pay our usual eBay fees.

For store specific deals, ebay contributes, but so do we, and thats on top of the base fees (so the fees are significant!).

      • Thought that might be the case. Good to see eBay not playing favourites and still doing sitewide for the smaller sellers. Will certainly get interesting when amazon arrives

  • is a tax invoice included so i can get TRS?

    • Tax invoice shipped with every order - usually in the packing slip on the outside.

      • Could we also receive electronic copies via email if requested?

  • When margins are razor thin on some of these products it makes sense to overcharge for shipping. I suspect for some of these deals that most of the profit is in the shipping.

    • You know the packaging and labor to ship it isn't free?

    • +3

You need to try and cover the shipping in part because of the low margins. I don't think many sellers on eBay nowadays make a profit on shipping though. The other option is to simply lift prices and offer "free" freight, but because we are trying to keep parity with the shop, the flat fee makes sense. Hopefully on larger orders there is some margin to help pay for the extra shipping cost.

On average, we subsidise the shipping cost, but for physically small orders the shipping cost can be a couple of dollars under the $15 flat fee and we make a couple of dollars to help cover the ones that are well over the $15. … I was auditing costs of shipping from the last 20% deal and saw for eg a empty case to outback WA where the case was something like $89, and our shipping cost over $100! Doesn't happen often but its another issue on my list to look at.

Oh, and some couriers, like Startrack we use, charge extra for each redeliver attempt when someones not home, that adds up to a lot at about $10 a pop.

Wow wow wow! GTX an 1070 mining for big gain win.by 6 make internet money

    • +1

Relying on making money mining is risky if you don't have access to dirt cheap electricity. It is hard for Australian miners to compete when paying about 29c/kWh against Chinese miners paying 8c/kWh for electricity. Nicehash suggests you can pay off the purchase cost in under a year (https://www.nicehash.com/?p=calc), but that ignores that fact that as better miners become more commonplace the profitability drops.

But hey, if you use a mining tool to "burn in" your 1070, you can justify spending hundreds of dollars on a toy^H^H^H serious investment that totally isn't a wasteful and frivolous luxury. :D :D :D

  • Awesome good to see an old school re-seller making it to the cutthroat world of eBay!

I've never ordered from you guys before but you've been a familiar name since the mid 2000's. Now is a good a time as any to give you a go :)

Picked up a Corsair Obisidian 750D Airflow edition and a Zowie BenQ XL2730 27"

Bloody tempted to grab a GTX 1080 as well but I'm going to hold out and see what AMD brings to the market.

  • was looking for a new video card .. was about time and then i saw your Rx560's on sale on ebay but after much research the
    Gigabyte GTX1060 3GB
has the better fps for my dollars — can't wait to max everything at 1080P ultra ^.^

    • +1

For most of the games I play i like the nVidias, but its usually worth checking benchmarks specific to the games you like as AMD sometimes have the advantage fps/$ wise…. and of course there is mining. Apparently.

Anyone else think its vandalism to build a token system that consumes energy, generating pollution and real costs to just to create some electronic token? maybe its just me. i feel old.

      • As I understand, the integrity of blockchain based systems is based on voting. It is hard to prevent sockpuppets, so multiple "votes" are allowed. To prevent this becoming a contest of who can think up the largest number of votes, each vote requires computational work. Legitimate miners are being paid to vote correctly in bulk, so fraudulent miners can't outvote them.

Miners and bankers can be seen as parasites who don't produce anything of value, but they are required to maintain the integrity of each of the financial systems they oversee.

        • +1

I have a rough idea of how they work and the reasoning, I just don't like the idea of using up so much power over a payments/authentication etc system.

Seems a fundamental issue with the design, outside the mathematical and direct economic framework.

        • @Computer Alliance: You know about as much as me then. Another flaw is that, since a coalition has gone over 50% of the bitcoin mining, the voting is less decentralised than one might hope.

I understand other people use it as a payment system. Personally I use mining tools in my "Electric Heater" script to start warming the room when the temperature drops below 20C. It doesn't generate much heat, but is much more nerdy than buying a bar heater.

  • +2
    • from me purely because of the involvement and transparency of the rep - great work.
  • Here, have a + just for not playing pricing games on eBay promos.

  • So the moral of the story is that everyone wants pickup if appropriate.

Over the last few weeks I would probably have bought ten or so items from you with your 20% off deals if you didn't charge $15 delivery.

Many others are obviously in the same position.

I hope you can put this in place at some stage in the near future.

    • I'm listening. If I ever get enough sleep again to think about, will make something happen….even if its just to quiet down warehouse guys packing stuff so i can get a nap sounds a good idea to me…

  • Not a bad deal on the HP, cheaper than the student store. Here is my quick little write up on it, https://bkmedia.co/2017/07/13/honest-review-hp-spectre-x360-… tl;dr its an amazing laptop but has a few flaws

  • +2

Nice post OP. Good to see some honest responses in the comments to (and not just the usual sales spiel), especially considering how rough the ozbargain crowd is :)

Is there any chance you can put a Spectre x360 with 16GB of RAM (Something like the 13-ac064tu) up on eBay before the end of the month? I'm keen on a couple of laptops, but need the extra RAM (stupid ultrabooks no longer offering upgradable RAM)

    • +1

Too hard to put up customising gear at the moment, sorry. Flat our just processing simple orders and trying to keep stuff-ups to a minimum

As for no sales spiel. I was an engineer. Once. My idea of sales is to tell Little Johnnys mother that no, little Johnny does not in fact need dual 1080tis to type up his essays with this new fangled computer thingy, but i do have this beautifully designed wordpressing beast at 1/10th the price for you… I was never much good at sales.

      • +1

Hey man, thanks for the reply (at midnight!).

Not after customising (the spectre can't be upgraded, as the RAM is soldered onto the board), was just wondering if you could get the upgraded laptop (13-ac064tu or similar) in stock before the promo ends.

EDIT: Looks like I'm not the only one after the upgraded laptop! Might be easy to move some stock if you can source it from your supplier!

        • Sorry, assumed we were talking about a upgrade of a listed model. The one you are after is not one we stock and bit too late now to look at getting in new stock, sorry.

        • @Computer Alliance:

          Thanks for looking
(FWIW, I dont care how long it takes to get delivered. If you can get it on back order from your supplier, I'd still buy it and wait happily)

  • Bought a few items from CA and delivery was super fast.

I've been eyeing at the GTX 1050Ti for a while:
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ASUS-GTX1050Ti-4GB-STRIX-OC-PCIe-…

It's a shame you jacked up the price by $20 for the 20% off sale (price history says it was $269), would've probably purchased it if it wasn't jacked up on purpose…

Your eBay listing is a whole $30 more than what you have listed on your own website….
    https://www.computeralliance.com.au/asus-gtx1050ti-4gb-strix…

    • true. but after discount its $231.20 so still a decent deal?

    • Your eBay listing is a whole $30 more than what you have listed on your own website….

wtf do you think all store owners do that for? maybe because after you take out the fees from paypal and ebay or both it probably equals the same price difference!

ebay price 289… - 10 percent ebay fees = WOW LOOK AT THAT, its the price on their website… where there are no such thing as seller fees

      • +1

tis true enough, as I explained earlier I count eBay fees as reasonable markets costs so believe for the most part we can keep prices on par with out normal sales. That doesn't necessarily work for other businesses.

As long as people are up front with it, I see no issues with sellers recouping some costs on ebay by increasing their prices here.

    • +9

Anyone else feel like a broken record at times? Its fine. I like old records, all good.

Take a closer look, the one you linked from our main web site is not in stock so its not listed on eBay and its a cheaper model, the non-OC version compared to the one listed on ebay and the shop, at the same price.

The one on eBay is also on our web site, also at $289, same as eBay see
      https://www.computeralliance.com.au/asus-gtx1050ti-4gb-strix…

and for your additional amusement, I looked at the internal price and cost changes. On the 19/7 we increased the retail price by $20, most likely because at the same time we were out or running low and our purchasing guys found out new stock would cost more and didn't want people back ordering at the old price. Possibly we even sold one or two at the new price with higher margin out of the cheaper stock if we had any left at the time (gasp! evil!!! - but guess what happens when the wholesale price drops instead and we are caught with old more expensive stock, of course we have to reduce it anyway so it works both ways but overall holding stock in this game means you lose out but you trade that against off against customer service by being able to supply immediately). I note that was well before this eBay deal.

On the 27/7 we received new stock at a cost of $22.70ex tax higher than our old price, but have not touched the retail price, even though we lost a bit of margin there and are making less at $289 than we were at $269. People like 9s apparently, so we round off. Never understood it myself, but there you go. Any changes before than was more than a month ago and I can't be bothered digging back further.

As the broken record says, prices often go down, they sometimes go up, and we adjust accordingly. Nothing to do with eBay deals.

And now for your total boredom of my lecture of how retail business works, example 2, I will pick something to look at for a change. I just processed a eBay order for a 500G SSD, this one https://www.computeralliance.com.au/500gb-samsung-2.5-850-ev…

Had a look at price history, just so of course I could try dobbing myself in, or something like that. Price reduced 24/7 to $249 from $259, just before the eBay deal (gasp!! gasp again!!!). Terrible this price jacking habit of ours, but it seems we are not very good at it.

On the 13/7 it was changed to $259, from, wait for it….$274!!!! Its had an unusually large number of changes, but looking back was $259 on 11/6 and before that no changes for quite some time. Question for the student? Why do you think the price may have changed over that time?

Question for the psychology student: Why are forums and the like full of people with examples of evil doings, strangely
dominated by instances where the people posting are personally involved in the example case and feel personally disadvantaged? How is it that in many cases if you test an objective set of data against their stated pattern there either is no pattern or possibly there is a pattern contrary to their assertions? Where are the opposing arguments? Could is be the people who noticed a price drop (GASP!!!) are happy but not so happy they want to mention it on a site like Ozbargain where people who notice a price increase are enraged somehow and do comment. Apparently emotions on each side of that line are not equal (ever thought of fear vrs greed in stock market behaviour - and making $X vrs losing $X are they equal, or does loss feel worse than equal gain?)

Seems to be a bad, very bad habit on the Interwebs nowadays. Any assertion must be true if you yell it loud enough, even when its dead easy to debunk. Sheep driven by unconstrained cognitive bias.

So, thats what happens when its 1am and I still have a few hundred orders to process before going to bed, all of whom, I am sure, have been ripped off?

but I actually agree with many of these comments, sort of, many of the assertions here do happen, but at least generally they don't apply to us and it irritates me when people tar us with the same brush they more correctly note in others.

      • Nah bruh you must be colluding with Russia.

        • +1

When were we becoming a republic? Don't you worry, my Russian connections are solid, and once I master the 3am OzBargain I'm marching right over to twitter to complete my preparation….for the Presidency.

I've been a UMART customer since 2008, and has spent well over 20k with them, had about 4 RMAs averaging 3-6 weeks. Can't really complain. But Computer Alliance takes it to another level. I've had nothing but FANTASTIC service from these guys. All their staff seems so friendly and welcoming every time I go there.
Gave me store credit no questions asked when I returned a Corsair keyboard I didn't like(within a week).
Bought a Logitech G900 from them July last year, middle button stopped working a couple of months ago, took it in store and gave me a brand new one out of box(just the mouse itself) immediately after verifying the issue to save me the trouble of waiting for the whole RMA procedure. I didn't even ask for it!
Whenever I need something they stock and find it somewhere else cheaper, I call them up and see if they can match the price. If they can, great. If they can't, but within 10% difference, I buy from them for their excellent service.

I'm glad to hear that you are considering a eBay pick up option as I live 1km form you.

    • +8

Friendly Staff? Hope you don't have the misfortune to meet me the night after a 3am failed effort to keep up with incoming eBay orders and questions. Might ruin all our efforts.

I'm taking my bat and ball, and going home, and leaving the rest to those nice Peons of ours in the morning to catch up (who get to sleep. Sometimes. maybe thats why they are nice. No idea.) . Zug Zug.

  • Good job CA, I ordered a system last night after my initial scepticism about the prices. You seemed to undercut everyone else's prices by about $10 on most items and a $15 flat shipping fee on an order which includes a case is awesome.

  • Great work as usual, guys

  • I'd strongly recommend the 27" AOC AGON AG271QX 144Hz Gaming Monitor

  • I can't convince myself to buy a 1070 knowing it dipped as low as $450 a few months ago. I'll just keep playing minesweeper with my geforce 256 :(

  • I ordered the Asus PG279Q monitor a couple of days ago .. what is this $50 gift card you mentioned?

Also, you guys have been super helpful with my queries. I hope you guys participate in future eBay sales, as the only thing that was stopping me from purchasing my entire pc build was just waiting for news on what Intel is doing with the Coffeelake CPUs.

    • Easier to see all the models it applies to on our web site: https://www.computeralliance.com.au/monitors/!manufacturer/a…

Direct link to the promotion is: http://www.asuspromotion.net/au/lcd-egift/

      Promotion Date: 19th June 2017 to 31st July 2017.

To be eligible for a Flexi eGift Card, consumers must purchase selected ASUS Eye Care monitors
from an authorised and participating ASUS retailer/reseller within Australia as indicated on the
      Where to Buy list.

and don't panic, you don't need to claim in that range date, but make sure the invoice is dated before August. From the T&Cs: All claims must be received on or prior to: 20th August 2017 to qualify

  • -4

Computer Alliance… you say you do not raise prices for these sails… that is simply not true!
Usually you are quite price competitive with the likes of Umart and I know for a fact that the Synology 916+ 2GB was a lot less than the current $779 which you raised from low/mid $600 prior to the last ebay 15/20% off sale.
Umart are currently $649 so you are like 10 bucks cheaper after discount and shipping.

    • good engrish… sails = sales

    • +5

OK, I'm seriously worn down over this. Please see my previous thesis. Or 2.

I will reiterate the key point. We change prices as part of the usual business and at present keep them on par with the usual shop sales, easy to verify. For every example of a price increase say over the last month, I could point to 2 or more decreases and point out they are all synced to eBay via our main site, keeping them the same, but i am just not going to bother any more. Look yourself.

Maybe its telling that you mention synology, which i already explained previously. Yes, we put the prices up. Nothing to do with eBay. Why not point out price changes on Netgear, Qnapp, and other brands and models across our large NAS range? Oh, maybe because their prices either didn't change or were down in the same timeframe? What is the term I'm chasing, maybe selective hearing or something? Please see my 3am post above for my 3am theories as to why people make false assumptions and assertions like this. 3am is cool, just ask the Donald, like him I do my best insanity that time of night.

I also verify what some others have said, some retailers do inflate eBay prices to help cover fees. I think thats quite reasonable but not a path we have chosen. If thats what we decided I would simply make that clear and why we were doing it. The bottom line is, is it a good deal you want to buy? If not, don't! No one is hurting you. I know some competitors who sell here under alternate names so they can list high prices here compared to their shops. Another path we decided not to go down (or did we? hahahaha with a evil laugh).

Another new argument and thought: You can see eBay prices are on par with our main shop site, don't think anyone is now seriously arguing otherwise. Anyone in QLD at least knows our scale and that ebay is going to be a flyspec when it comes to profit contribution for us, especially factoring in those fees and the reduced, or sometimes negative margins that result. Does it make sense that we would increase prices for a eBay promotion on our main site just to improve margin on eBay, upsetting our regulars, corporate, education customers etc? That sort of strategy would run you out of business very quickly!

I am not easily worn down, but I am starting to understand how the "I assert this, so it must be true" crowd are winning the Internet at the moment. How about a pivot to the sensible? Used to be called giving the benefit of the doubt.

      • -4

Nice rant… kind of rude but okay… please show me where you previously commented regarding synology as the only one I can find is regarding a 12 bay one off clearance item. Also nobody forced you to stay up until 3am!

Just a coincidence that the price rose to well above your competitors price (who do not have an ebay sale on) immediately before the ebay sales began then.

        Good one

        • Ctrl+F 'Synology' on page one:

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/320910#comment-4919219

When I had a look at a few listings last night, it seems to also be a coincidence they lowered a few prices recently as well. Not enough to tempt me yet, but good on CA.

Computing prices change over time, maybe their competitors have lots of older stock at the lower cost price, whereas CA recently got stock at a higher price.

As rep said, their eBay prices are in line with their site and store prices. Im sure they don't want to hurt their bricks and mortar customers by increasing those prices during an ebay sale.

Rep also previously clarified that when they said that they don't raise prices, they meant that they don't price jack (ie raise all prices thoughout the store before the sale began). eBay is good in that it also shows past sale prices on all items, so you can easily see all price changes. Unless you are able to provide evidence that they raised their prices thoughout most their items, they definitely didn't price jack.

@lyl: yes previous synology post was negged that's why I didnt see it because it didn't show up with search!

Usually overnight to sydney when we can get the gear through our warehouse. Seriously clogged up at the moment so not promising all orders from last night let only today will go out today. Most will, but we shall see.

Lets blame it on Brendan in our warehouse if it doesn't ship. Hes a lightning packer, but apparent got some time off from mid this week. When attempted to bribe him to work while the eBay deal is on, his weak excuse was his wife won't let him. My response, shes not your wife till Sunday afternoon, so where is the problem? ah well. If you could get that ultra book to 16gb, consider it sold.

Btw, OP you get a + for customer service and transparency.

  • Was literally about to go to MSY to buy a Viewsonic XG2703 which is more or less the same as the ASUS PG279Q. Any chance you could do me a deal on the Viewsonic if you have it (I notice you stock some of their other models on your eBay store)

    • P.S. am I missing something with the $50 gift card? I don't buy from eBay very often, is it a deal somewhere?

    • We do normally carry them and i have it listed on our main site, but its not on ebay because but no stock at the moment, sorry.

  • just in time for a new gpu =D

  • Any chance for a deal on the Asus rt-ac68u? It's $225 delivered from other stores like wireless1

975 sold, thats impressive. My guess is they are buying for a few $ under us, will have to sort that with ASUS but at this stage no, can't drop further. Don't think they have the 20% off though so we are probably still competitive with $15 shipping during the ebay deal.

  • Thank you CA. I just bought gigabyte 1060.

  • Hi rep. Can you comment on the negative feedback on your store left on https://www.productreview.com.au/p/computer-alliance.html I'm looking for a new monitor and your prices are very good but all those negatives about post-sale support put me off.

(From other hand feedback on other places like whirlpool forums is generally good http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1408392 but it doesn't mention much about customer post-sale experience)

Given the attitude of the Computer Alliance ozbargain user I am not surprised!

    • +3

Can't comment on particular cases but productreview is notorious for being a haven for shilling, fake reviews and the like at the best of times. Take everything you see on there with a very sceptical grain of salt.

      • Interesting. I noticed that most (but not all) of one star reviews on productreview are left by people who left in total just this one review. Look like fakes indeed.

        • Yep, something to look out for. The problem (shills, fake reviews etc.) is very common on sites like productreviews and the like.

You still do find some of the same dodgy behaviour on other tech sites that aren't tailored specifically to rating retailers (ie a business employee or owner creating a throw away whirlpool account purely to bad mouth one of their competitors) but it's much rarer.

It can be hard to even get so much as a simple positive or negative experience of a business you're interested in buying from on sites like OCAU or Whirlpool, but with a company like Computer Alliance that's been around for soooo long it's a lot easier.

I've not ordered from CA before (or perhaps I have many years back and can't remember) but I can remember them having a solid reputation from back in the mid 2000's when I was into overclocking and active on OCAU/Whirlpool. From what I've read here (from other comments but especially from the store rep, big +1 for your excellent comm's and dedication mate) it looks like CA is very much still worth of this reputation.

As the CA Rep said - some of the negative reviews may indeed be legit. As a business owner in the IT repairs sector I know all too well. There are just some people who you bend over backwards for, lose time and money to keep them happy for something that wasn't your fault and they still won't be happy. As he said they are usually the kind of people that will go out of their way to badmouth you. Another common thing I've noticed is with customers who have a legitimate fault that is covered under warranty, but instead of contacting you so you can sort it out for them, they will not tell you about it, but instead post on social media. I've even had a few people come to me in that type of scenario AFTER they have payed someone else to replace your part and demand a refund, yet they don't even have your part for you to confirm it's a fault covered under warranty.

As the rep said, if you're a huge volume business like CA is, the number of people who have (justified or unjustified) negative experiences increases. The thing is you never heard of those thousands who had a good experience, but the ones who had a bad experience jump up and down like CA had spat in their morning coffee every day of their life.

Yes, i notice that and we are a bit slack at managing some of the review sites of that type which makes it looks worse. Actually, reminds me, I really should look at the forums here one day!

I suppose the simple answer is we have had over 200k customers buy from us in the last decade or so, and some people get upset and there is simply nothing you can do, even when we do believe we have done nothing wrong. Some will log into sites like that with multiple accounts and do whatever they can to try and damage your reputation. I don't think it has much real impact but its still not great.

Sites like that are misleading because its only the upset people who seem to post. That they represent a tiny fraction of your customer base is not represented.

There is also the odd screw up on our part, when you many transaction you will make significant mistakes, run into someone on a bad day who behaves poorly, etc, all the normal human things that happen. We try to make it up, but don't always manage that.

You might note for the still modest proportion of people who have left us feedback on ebay relative to orders since we set up a month ago, pretty much all positive with some neutrals over courier issues out of our control. Also consider the 1000s of others who have not left feedback… if they had big issues you could bet they would have.

Let me give you one example of the sort of people you just can't do much about when they get upset.

Early on with ebay, about a month ago, we had a guy ordered a small part and shipped promptly, think it was next day. He sent us a message wanting to cancel in the late afternoon. I checked the order and saw that it had shipped, though the con note had not pushed through to eBay yet. Responded saying sorry, its already shipped and pushed the con note to him. The con note had a time stamp that showed it physically left hours before he sent the message and he could easily see that. It wasn't something we could possibly fake up. I told him we could try and get it returned or he could ship back when received and would give him a full refund for the item, but not the freight…… well his 1st response seemed to accept that, then he started quoting ebays policies, our policies, various bad words were used etc etc. Half a dozen messages and abuse came in. I think he had some personal issues and settled down eventually and in the end didn't give us a negative and i think we ended up refunding the freight anyway (i don't cave in to threats, but ebays returns system is a bit broke in some circumstances and we were still figuring it out, was just easier to refund the lot to avoid a eBay error message)

So in that case, what do you do if someone decides you are evil and out top get them? Not much.

Overall, I know our execution is pretty good and if you look at even this site, you don't see a lot of negatives about our customer service.

  • Good deal. I bought a bunch of stuff from CA (eBay) last month and had their customer service was stellar. I (kinda) goofed the order and they called me (on a Sunday!) and sorted it out. Guys name was Craig, thanks Craig. Keep it up.

Had to reactivate my account and reset my password just to cast my first vote! Never really thought it would be CA.

    • +3

lol, interesting that given the previous inference about customer service. Craig is our store manager on Sundays (before you pity him, i did Saturday and Sunday for a over decade) and does some of the online sales and admin work.

Craig has been putting in a "massive effort" with ebay and gets very frustrated by the "massive problem" that is some of the backend eBay systems that relate to refunds etc and are broke, and how that stuffs up our internal admin and creates extra work under pressure.

Basically, hes a guy that can be a bit abrupt (as I can be at times), but means well and follows up. I would bet someone here has received a email from him thats been a bit blunt or rude, but many more will have been helped out by him anticipating and solving a issue before it impacts them. People forget we are humans too, doing our best under pressure and when you get yet another message that they submitted the order without the coupon code, or a wrong address, or want you to combine shipping on orders hours apart (can't do without cancelling both first), etc and find the order is already packed in a pallet for shipping, well, it can be a bit frustrating! I remind myself they have not done it intentionally to make our life more painful, but its still human to get annoyed after 20 hours straight and you just want to get some sleep.

  • Hey CA do you carry the Philips 349x7fjew ultrawide? Would you list it for this deal?

  • First time user of Computer Alliance. Bought a Synology NAS via eBay yesterday using the code and it arrived here in Sydney this afternoon. Really impressed with the their service so far.

  • I have purchased 6 figures worth of stuff from CA over the last 5 years and they are always up to the task. + vote from me for the rep interaction here and for my dealings with them in the past.

    • Oh I grabbed one of these too. Not quite the cheapest on eBay (only a few bucks more) but worth it for the bricks and mortar.

  • was going to purchase the ryzen 1600 and corsair rm550x, but it has now sold out. will you be restocking any of these?

  • Grabbed an Aorus 1080ti, thanks CA! :D

  • Hi @Computer Alliance, I'm pulling the trigger on buying parts for my first ever build and have already added a few of your items to my cart.

I was wondering if you'd possibly consider listing a 'Fractal Design Define R5 Window' case to your ebay store? I know you've got a non-window version listed, but would love to get my hands on the former. Thanks! 😊

    • May have seen this a bit late, but checked anyway. Found we had 2 in stock (below the buffer level I prefer to cover new system builds), but we will have more in shortly so dropped that buffer margin to a single unit = one pushed to eBay if you still need it.

… and I need to do something about builds on eBay. A dangerous number of parts orders going to inexperienced builders all over the country. I like to encourage poepl to have a go at their own builds, but its not alwasy easy going and hard to support outside Brisbane. Would prefer to build and test before shipping where people can't easily drop back into the shop if they have trouble with it, to save everyone the risks and costs, but thats extra expense so will see.

      • I really appreciate your reply, and even more so, going ahead and doing that for me. I actually ended up having a change of heart though, and decided to go for one of your Crystal 570X cases with a complement of RGB components (a big change of heart from the minimalist Fractal Design case I guess) - you may have spotted my order late last night.

Your comment r.e. first time builds is reasonable. I'm counting on getting a lot of support from some experienced friends, but your comment is valid all the same.

Again, thanks so much for putting that Window case up there for me. I'll be sure to shop with you guys the next time I need something. 😊

      • Ordered a 1080 on Friday what's the usual postage times to Sydney ?

      • Lightning fast shipping ordered Friday come today WOW

  • A Ryzen 1600X for $302.20 posted….. Very tempted.

    • Do it!

  • +1

I just bought a gtx1060 and a HD based on how active and transparent you have been on this post (and that I was in the market for a gpu). Thanks for not screwing over the customer with pricing on these sales. Look forward to receiving my parts. Just a question. If I am not home when delivery turns up, will it just end up at yhe post office. Seems you use Startrack and that is usually what happens when they attempt delivery (which is perfectly ok for me).

  • Thanks CA - just ordered a 1060! Hope it gets shipped soon!

  • Any chances of this again. Always find something I need after
