D-Link DCS-936L HD Camera $178 + Free DNR-322L 2-Bay NVR/NAS (Valued at $149), Delivered from $4.95 @ JB Hi-Fi

130

My first deal. Bonus offer at JB Hi HiFi. Buy the HD wifi camera and get the NVR/NAS for free. This model NVR is a few years old but seems to have good reviews for ease & function providing you understand a bit of networking. If you install two HDDs then one can be used as an NVR and the second as a NAS. Make sure you keep the firmware updated on this. Cheers

  • Is that Nas any good? Am in the market for something cheap and don't really want to build one in a Hp etc due to size and time requirements

I have no experience with it, but am aware there's a script called fun_plug which activates a full linux server. Mentioned at http://www.dlink.cc/others/how-to-hack-the-d-link-dns-323-to…

The 322 doesn't seem to be listed as supported for fun_plug

    • It's not a Nas, only nvr. But can be configured to have one hdd as storage and the other for recording. But software is probably limited.

      • Yeah probably better off getting the HP proliant and run freenas

for a 'NAS' it's absolutely no good. read the amazon reviews

      • Yeah already did that lol dlink doesnt have a good rep for this stuff.

    • If you've got the HDDs & OS ready-to-go then you can build an Xpenology NAS within about 20-30 minutes including screwing the HDDs into the PC and the initial Volume setup etc. You don't need a Proliant, you can use almost any PC so if physical size is an issue simply track down a nice, 2nd-hand, i5-based mini PC with enough HDD bays to suit your needs and go for it. I've been building NAS boxes this way for years and they work a treat… a mirrored HDD pair of 4s or 8s in a Small Form Factor HP PC (usually ex-Govt Z210). Small, discreet, quiet, low energy consumption and absolutely 'set & forget' bulletproof! Brilliant for PLEX too as you've got a 'proper' CPU to do all the decoding instead of a cut-down NAS specific CPU.

  • My first deal.

Congrats, you never forget your first time.

  • charging double delivery for both items and the camera selling around ~$160 somewhere, the NVR (not include HDD) has not too bad review..from JB warrranty. buy or not?

    • this is ozbargain. buy obvs.

Does anyone know if you can add non-Dlink branded cameras to DNR-322L 2-Bay NVR/NAS - such as the xaomi fang that we all have been buying?

found this posting - Does DNR-322L support other brands' IP camera?

      http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=52693.0

      yes it is possible

The official word from D-Link is that the DNR-322L only supports compatible D-Link series network cameras, and D-Link recommends against integrating network cameras from third party manufacturers.

D-Link did point me to a business class device called the DNR-326, which does support a certain network cameras from third party manufacturers
