Chemtech CT-18 Superwash 20 Litres for $54 @ Supercheap Auto

180

This is probably the cheapest I have ever seen it at. Normally $125.

Great wash. Alot of people think this eats paint but the formula was changed quite a few years back and is PH neutral.

I use it with a mint pro foam gun and it is creates one of the best foams I have seen.

Good stuff at a top price!

  • Have you tried the Bowdens Snowjob foam? I'm wondering how it might compare to that as i find that a good foaming solution. The bowden's stuff is $50 for 2 litres so I guess this CT18 only has to come sort of close to matching the Bowdens to make this a cracking buy.

I think it's better. I rarely use a sponge either. I just foam it up. Let it sit for 10min and then pressure wash it off. Takes it all off, from bird Sh!t to tree sap and everything in between.

i find it better than bowdens and cheaper

    • I agree

  • What on earth do you do with 20l of it though? That's like a 10 year supply…

Wash every Trucking thing you see.

    • I do alot of 4wding and even then it still would last me a year easily. Also works well as an engine bay degreaser. I just make it a little more concentrated. I've heard of guys that spray it undiluted as a less aggressive degreaser but never been brave enough to try it yet.

  • Think I still have a 5L bottle that was $9.99

  • used it with a karcher pressure washer?

A lot of people think this eats paint but the formula was changed quite a few years back and is PH neutral.

It all comes down to how long you leave it in contact with the surface of your vehicle. Don't let it sit too long in full sunlight or allow it to completely dry before rinsing, I have seen it leave spots due to this. If you're diligent about keeping it moist and rinsing thoroughly then you shouldn't have any trouble with it. A good chamois afterwards is also advisable.

I've used gallons of this stuff to wash fire trucks and I agree it's amazing when used properly, it cuts through all sorts of dirt and grime. Diesel soot, caked-on bulldust, layers of ash & mud - it never failed to leave the appliances sparkly clean. About the only thing it couldn't shift was a rather thick concentration of tar spots we'd picked up from a newly resurfaced road, which is not surprising.

Foam is not an indication of cleaning strength.

Its a myth and dupe created by the industry.

Some of the best car shampoos dont even foam at all. They also offer the best longevity and protection between washes.

Chemicals are added to the cleaners to make super suds which give the impression of quality and a good job when in reality its detracting by making the solution weaker and full of air.

I only recently found this out and thought I'd share

    • I currently use Meguiars NXT with my foam lance with a lot of success. What do you use and recommend?

      • +6

I would definitely steer clear of Meguiars. The were developed with the intention of selling you the best but turned in order to save costs and increase profits. They market extremely well and have premium packaging but thats where it ends. They purposely developed products that work well but not for long.

I have tried NXT wax and was super impressed. That was 7 years ago. It lasted less than 2 months (around 6 weeks) and i quickly realised i needed a $50 tin every 2nd application. I looked elsewhere and was advised of Dodo Juice Carnauba Wax.

        Brilliant.

Apply it after a primer… i use Dodo Lime Prime… and it lasts 6 months. I've had the same pack for the last 7byears and it is still 85% full. I kid you not.

I use the purple haze since I have black cars. They have different waxes for different coloured cars or you can get ones that do a variety.

Car Shampoo I am using now. Not many suds and eventually is like just slippry water. But wow. All you need is 30ml but inuse 50ml in a 10litre bucket.

        https://www.carcareproducts.com.au/product/gyeon/q2m_bathe

Oh and please, make sure you look up and use the two bucket method to wash a car to minimise the chain of swirling, scratching and destroying your paint AND never wash with circular motion. Always use straight left/right & up/down movements.

All my black cars are swirl free.

Typed on a phone so sorry for grammar… lol took forever too

  • Also above comment was about suds.

I've never used this product and have no idea hoe it performs.

Might buy it and use it on the utes.

  • Hmm good price. Thanks OP.
But at $125 full price, SCA is seriously taking you for a ride.

A quick Google reveals three other suppliers selling it for $100, $94 … and even $60.10 which appears to be their regular price.

If you want delivery, the last supplier is actually cheaper than SCA.
$73.95 vs $70.05 (Sydney metro). My nearest store is an hour round trip.

    • Incidentally, Repco also has the 20L CT18 on sale for $54.99 if they are closer.
