What part of the chicken is used to make these?

    • The entire chicken maybe

    • McDonalds advertises them as 100% chicken breast. On their website the ingredients list just says chicken. I am always skeptical when companies claim their nuggets are 100% chicken breast though.

Wouldn't it be illegal to claim that if it wasn't true?

        • I'm not up to scratch on my legal studies but most probably. The issue lies in the interpretation of a law. Big companies have ways to work around laws but they do get caught out sometimes. I'm not saying that maccas are lying but I am always wary when companies can offer things like "100% chicken breast nuggets at a fraction of the cost of say a "100% chicken breast strip or something similar.

        • @Rochie:
Yeah not sure what % of the nuggets are chicken.

        Straight from their website.

Chicken, Water, Flour (Maize, Bleached Wheat), Salt, Canola oil, Thickener (1404), Raising Agents and Mineral Salts (341, 451, 450, 500, 541, 551, 327), Spice, Wheat Starch.

        Contains gluten.

McNuggets are cooked in canola oil blend.

        Yum. I'm lovin' it.
Get your fill of genetically-modified frankenfood and antibiotics.

Additional info can be found all over the web (including YouTube). That's without going into animal cruelty (chickens raised for death in the worst conditions). But that goes without saying. A simple search for Chicken Processing on Youtube should give you some lovely videos if you can't imagine it.

Bummer, was hoping for a bit of 621 as well.
This article says that they contain only 45% chicken.

          @WatchNerd:
I wouldn't put it past them. Ultimately the customer today doesn't know where their food is grown or what goes into their food (vague country of origin, no need to list ingredients below a certain percentage such as "spice" here) and the biggest companies and their suppliers are never analysed (except from independent sources). They are way too powerful. So this is merely 'official propaganda'.

The customer doesn't have to know whether the ingredients are genetically modified either. Apparently that's unimportant (they are here). So it's all par for the course. MSG would be among the healthiest ingredients on this list. Hah.

Yes, heard from multiple sources it's only about half chicken (and of course the highest-quality chicken, at that). Not surprising. Max profits, baby.

        • @cheepwun: Close. About 60% chicken breast/tenderloin , 30% skin, 10% additional water, batter and seasoning.
It's quite often audited because it's marketed as a kids meal item and has a zero bone tolerance. I don't usually bother posting such information because the data shows that there is no correlation with people knowing what is in their food and the sales…let's just say Australians aren't the healthiest people…
The stuff you see online is just a hoax, I don't know how chicken nuggets can ever be fluro-pink raw then white when cooked. That said, every country has their own regulations. Some countries allow small sized bones to be inside the nugget and some allow frozen meat to be used. Australia is unique, where only frwsh, unfrozen meat can be used with zero tolerance for bones in nuggets. Explains why you can never get $5 / 20 nuggets like you get in the US.

    • Breast they say.

  • Yesss finally something for QLD.

This deal has been available in WA for a couple of weeks now, after the $5 McFeast meal finished it was replaced with this.

  • So should the title include Vic not just Qld only?

    • No because VIC has their own deal which ends soon while this is starting the 27th

      • Where does it say it is ending soon?

        • typically this deal is on for 2 - 5 weeks. VIC deal is currently at the 3 week mark.

      • Gotcha
