Have Anyone Bought a 512 GB Micro SD Card? Can Someone Point Me to a Bargain?

Looking to buy a high capacity micro SD card

512 GB is the maximum micro SD capacity available commercially at present (the 1 TB card unveiled last year by San Disk is yet to hit the shelves). Many obvious fakes are out there, but this looks genuine. Though it ships from the US, the seller pays return shipping; thus adding a bit more credibility to the listing.

It is serious moolah for something like an SD card, so wanna proceed with caution.

So, anybody using a 512 GB micro SD card?
Would like to hear any experience on this from the good folks here at OzBargain

Thankz in Advanz :)

        Try actually buying one.

"Unfortunately, Microdia didn't have working samples for show, so you'll have to settle for a picture of the packaging."

The article itself sais its not available for purchase, and i cannot find it anywhere available to buy myself currently.

  • Thanks guys!

Yes; on closer inspection, the packaging seems dodgy.
Especially the lettering "512" on the card itself.
And, as one of the reviews on that page points out, it claims to be both SDHC and SDXC simultaneously.
My bad to have hoped this could be genuine.

I guess 256 GB would be more realistic to aspire for.
    Anyone been owning one?

    • I have only done 200gb so far as after that the bargain prices wear off disappear.

Took this deal awhile back in Feb.

SanDisk Ultra 200gb Micro SD card ~$87 AUD shipped @ Amazon

    • I own a 200GB one by SanDisk

      And a 256GB Samsung EVO+

The samesung evo+ has really good write and read speeds.

If you're buying such a large capacity make sure the device/phone you want to use it in supports it.

    • If it supports a 64GB card, it will support anything larger unless they make a new standard, as SD is 0 - 4GB, SDHC is 4 - 32GB, SDXC is >32GB

      • I wouldn't rely on that.

        • Why not?

          It's the official standard.

Like USB for example, if you buy it from a reputable source, it will be fine, and if there are defects, the reputable brand will cover it.

          https://www.sdcard.org/developers/overview/capacity/

EDIT: SD XC is 32- 2TB,

So there is a long way to go till we need the next iteration anyway.

  • No reputable brands have that capacity "yet", samsung has a 256GB one, good speeds Class 10 UHS class 3.

  • I buy SanDisk Ex Pros for everything.
    1) I've never had a SanDisk fall on me since I started using SD cards.
    2) The warranty.

Both of those are enough reason to have overkill cards in devices that can only support half the rate on the internal bus.

It can cause issues if devices are to old for SDXC
