Logitech G29 / G920 + Shifter $318.40 Shipped @ The Gamesmen eBay

PLAYING

This is not a "GREAT" price, more of a "What it Should Be" price…

I've been meaning to get a driving wheel for 4-5 years and the sweet spot for the G27 and its 'basically the same but ps4 branded' successor the G29 was always around $300 new, which it hits with the rare sale or deal..

Remarkably they've retailed for about $399 for a few years, so this is a good yesteryear price and includes the shifter, everything you need! GT Sport is around the corner, ordered mine to be ready — so now the waiting game begins..

Theres also some Thrustmaster wheels at good prices, the T300RS GT Edition is meant to be more realistic, but they are a significant jump up in price tier, especially plus a shifter.

Is there a wheel with Pedals and shifter that works on PS3/PS4 & XBOX ONE? I have a G27 and I'm sick and tired of not being able to play XBOX One games with it or PS4 too. Stupid buying two wheels to play on two systems

    • I think the thrustmasters? dont quote me.

Eitherway, there are various usb adapters you can use to force any of them to work on any platform.

      • yer but wouldn't that mean somethings don't work, be nice to have a wheel thats made for the systems

No, the closest you can get to a wheel that works with both PS4 and XBox One is if you buy a Fanatec CSL Elite for PS4 which is $749 without pedals and get one of the XBox compatible rims the cheapest being the CSL Steering Wheel P1 at $149.90.

For pedals they do do a bundle deal where the CSL Elite Pedals can be had for only $50 when you buy it with the CSL Elite wheel.

So your looking at not much change from a grand all up. While the quality would be a step up from the Logitech, you'd want to be pretty serious about it to splash that sort of cash.

It seems that Sony are quite strict with controllers one of the issues seems to be they won't allow a multiconsole device to be certified for PS4.

That's way more than I spent on my real first car.

    • Im pretty sure fanatec is compatible on both. I have the CSR elite pedals and Porsche wheel, but haven't used it yet.

Only problem its very expensive and all peices are sold separate

  • hows this compare to the trustmaster ?

    • force feedback on the thrustmaster T300 and up is belt drive, so meant to be more realistic and quieter but they also have unusual fail rates. theres pros and cons. best to consult youtube reviews or driving communities like /r/simracing or GTPlanet for in depth reviews.

basically the G29 is the first "decent" wheel, with full 3 pedal + shifter setup around $300. the comparable thrustmaster is $500-700 with shifter.

      • G27 has 3 pedals and shifter

        • I don't believe the G27 works with the PS4

        • @Cordova: true

      • tbh, i would buy the logitech in a heart beat not if i am a fan of ferrari
        XD

  • Bought this with a Playseat for Forza Horizon 3, great experience but the shifter gets little use as the gears change when set on manual without the clutch needing to be pressed, if anyone is considering for similar a scenario.

    • I use shifter for handbrake in Dirt Rally and Dirt 4.

    • Not sure about Forza but when using G25/G27 with H-Gear mode engaged in GT it respects the car's configuration IRL. For example, when driving a R32 in manual + H-gear mode, it requires you to depress the clutch in order to change gear. When driving an Aventador though, it ignores the clutch as IRL it only comes in semi-auto paddle shifter.

Best price I've seen, previous best was 325 at MSY.

I think the G27 / G29 / G920 are the best wheel for the money and the cheapest useable wheel controller that's worth considering. It's a great controller but it feels very artificial due to being geared.

    • Agreed. Great entry point at a great price. If you go full serious then surely not too hard to offload and spend 2-4x more and go up to thrustmaster's ecosystem or fanatec etc.
