True, but tuna on its own isn't a balanced meal for a cat (as it often doesn't include vitamins and amino acids they require - like taurine), whereas most canned cat food will include that added taurine (the ones that don't will usually only say they should be used as a treat, not as a complete meal). It's a super important difference between actual cat food and regular canned tuna.
99% of the cats around the world probably don't eat a 'balanced meal' and it doesn't seem to be holding them back.
Actually, those cats usually end up extremely sick, blind, or dead of heart failure. Taurine is an essential amino acid for cats because their bodies can't synthesize it themselves, so if they are consistently fed meals without these additives, they will have very short lives indeed. They literally cannot survive without it.
I would argue against that 99% estimate, because most cat foods (even the cheapo supermarket ones) do have these additives, hence why they will often say on the packaging they are a balanced/complete meal. Tuna is fine as a treat every now and then, but it isn't comparable to 'proper' cat food.

Maybe a tiny fraction are, but most are just fine, otherwise they would die out as a species…
Not true at all. Cats literally cannot survive without it. Cats in the wild know what to eat to survive based on their biology (which is why cats in the wild don't eat fish as their primary diet), but pet cats obviously can't choose what they eat.
@jv:
Wild and outdoor cats scrounge and are very skilled at eating items found at random containing necessary dietry elements.
Indoor cats do not have the same foraging opportunties.
Cats that become addicted to human grade tuna (yep, that's a thing) frequently end up with defficiency illnesses.
Lesson here: don't skimp on cat food, or I will find you and feed you only sugar free gummy bears for a week.

that's all my kids eat… :O
@RunningGaleon: taurine? I didn't know they needed it until I read this.
Cans of "V" have taurine in it, I might add some into my sister in laws cats diet. Cheers mate@ozy: you can buy taurine powder at some health food stores. My son spikes his morning coffee with it on early morning starts. I have found even half teaspoon is too much for me, so figuring out what a cat needs would be key before giving them any.
Quality dry food yeah. The stuff they sell in Coles/Woolworths is like you living on McDonalds.
If you want to change up your cats food do it gradually over the course of weeks, the last thing you want is for your cat to go off food for more than 48hrs, it can cause a fatal liver illness.
I'm not seeing this deal?
It doesn't seem to go through until you put all 24 cans in the checkout.
All the one's that have "bonus" (ie. the single cans) are $1 each when you click on it.
If you go into one of the single tins at $2.59 with the 'Bonus' banner, there is a promotion shown.

Thanks.
Be prepared for a heap of deliveries requested to Nursing homes!
I'll let myself out.Not when you can get normal tuna cheaper…
It doesnt have the vitamins older people need >.<
Oh…
For the last many years, I have been feeding my cat the Aldi cat food in cans that are available for 80 Cents for about 400 gms of variety of food. She is always happy and healthy.
I've never seen a cat go fishing.
Please note that this is a complementary food, not a complete food. You need to provide your cat with other food sources to get a balanced diet.
95g tins of John West are only $1 at Coles !!! (Maybe avoid the Jalapeno ones though)
