NBN FTTP - 2nd UNI-D Port - Anyone heard of Stuffing up Main Line?

I have a friend who I'm trying to convince to try out Aussie Broadband for the free month trial on his 2nd UNI-D port of the NTD device. He's worried about stuff ups affecting his main line. Even when I offer monetary inducement he's not willing as he sometimes works from home. Last time he had a speed change he was without internet for 1 month.

I've never read of it happening (and I read whirlpool quite frequently) but you never know so I'm asking if anyone has heard of stuff ups?

What is the likelihood of that?

  • None. Take it from me, I had ABB activate a service on port 2 while SkyMess was on port 1. No issues whatsoever.

  • Should be fine I had iinet on port 1 and Telstra on port 2 on problem at all

  • The ports are completely independent from one another.

Activating a second service on UNID-2 will have absolutely ZERO effect on his 'main' service on UNID-1.

    • I don't know how it works but what if NBN accidentally activates it on UNID-1 and replaces it instead of UNID-2? Is that possible?

      • Sounds like something that would happen if the Telco you're dealing with is extremely incompetent.

  • Why are you offering your friend money to try it?
    What's in it for you?
Why does it matter what internet provider they use?

    • Thanks for your post.

I can't answer that question without breaking the rules.

      • +1

        Yeah you can.

People rarely follow advice when they seek it out.

Good luck getting your friend to follow your advice when they clear don't want it.

    • The monetary incentive for trying out Aussie Broadband is the wpfreetrial code which gives one month free trial and double data for six months.

  • I ran Internode on port 1 and Belong on port2 for about a month. It worked OK with no complications. Cancelled Internode and still have Beyond. Great way to make a changeover. Get the new service active before cancelling the old one.
