Jalna Flavoured Yoghurt 200g Pots $1.14 @ Coles

1120

Less than half price, save $1.93, available online and there were plenty available at my local store (may not be available nationwide).

I really only like their passionfruit and blueberry yoghurts, their strawberry 1KG is awful.

All Yalna Specials, is Yalna, is good.

And did you know that there are three ways to spell yoghurt; yogurt, yoghurt and yoghourt?

    Mhmmm sugar

    • +1

You can just buy the plain one.

    • +2

      Mmmmm, sweet, sweet sugar.

    • Jalna is pretty much the only brand with no added sugar. At least the plain and strawberry have the exact amount of sugar completely natural yoghurt should have.

      • +1

Uhhh, I just looked at the ingredient list and all the flavoured ones have added sugar. They say "no added cane-sugar" to make it sound better, but they still add sugar.

Realised this isn't Greek Yoghurt, which is all I ever buy. Though clicking on the link all it has is 'Pasteurised Whole Milk, Cream, Passionfruit (20%), (Passionfruit, Water, Fruit Juice Concentrate, Corn Starch), Fruit Juice Concentrate, Live Cultures. It has about 1g of sugar per 100g more than pure yoghurt should have, but even that is pretty good.

        • @G3ck0: OK but fruit is sugar.

        • +1

@G3ck0: I like it how you manage to be completely deluded by the weasel wording regarding sugar on the package by your own admission and yet the very next comment you're already back to claiming this product has no added sugar again as though this was a healthy product.

    • No added sugar like most others have.

Also they have no gelatine like the others have.

That's strange, the passion fruit one doesn't say that at all.
It does say fruit juice, but then that's expected from a fruit flavoured yogurt.

  • I've never used their online ordering: can you order and pick up instore for free? Or will you get there and they tell you "oh, we sold out, you can have a refund"…

I loved the mango flavour but they got rid of it. What's good now?

    • Ozbargain is good.

Blueberry and vanilla flavours are good.

    • Passionfruit and blueberry, don't like anything else they have.

Raspberry is bland and tasteless and strawberry is awful.

      • coconut is also very nice!

  • i like their yohurt but i like the container it comes in more. I find that most passionfruit yogurts including this one has too many seeds in it for my liking.

    • The small pots are awful, you can't stir them easily.

  • Tried it before. Don't like it. Was the Arabic bean. The consistency is not creamy enough. More a fan of Greek yogurt.

  • Jalna cuz jalna jalna

Much cheaper and very easy to make your own yoghurt. Get one of those cheap Hansells insulated makers, but you don't need to buy their packets. Just use full cream milk powder and UHT, plus a scoop of previous batch for culture starter. Costs around $1 to make a 1 litre container and tastes nice. No added sugar, just milk and microbes.

    • -1

will starter freeze and be used later?

      • Not sure about that. We just take a scoop of yoghurt from a previous batch and use that. It's easier if you have a few containers so you can make the next one while the first one is still unfinished. Every now and then you can get some yoghurt from the supermarket to use as starter.

      • Yes, but as long as it's not frozen for too long.

Source: My mother, Mrs Scab, used to make her own starter and freeze it for a few weeks.

    • Does it have to be "full cream"? Can u use skim milk powder & skim milk UHT?

      • Yes, you can use them.

Source: Mrs Scab, and she says hello.

      • I've tried that in the past but didn't get the thick Greek yoghurt consistency I like. Full cream is still 96% fat free, from memory.

  • Not a bad deal. Can I click and collect 1x unit?

  • Isn't it cheaper when the 1kg sells for $5? I don't buy the flavoured ones, if I wanted super sweet I'll add my own to the plain one.

    • +1

They only do 3 flavours of 1KG, and they actually have more sugar than the pots.

I've only tried the strawberry 1KG and it's awful.

And I think you're sweet enough, Lainey.
