  • Does this have ultra slow charging like the $0.02 ones from previous deals?

    • are they that slow???

      • My s8 gives me a 'your device is slow charging'that doesn't go away
        Stopped using them then

          You need to understand how "fast charging" and Type C works to know why this is.

          According to USB standards, a Type C charger should provide power to a phone at 5V/3A, or 15W. The cables and chargers are designed specifically for that voltage and current.

          A standard USB 2.0 charger will typically provide power to a phone at 5V/2.1A, or 10.5W. Again, the cables and chargers are designed for this power delivery. If you try to charge at a higher current (say, 3A like the Type C cable) you might over-heat the charging equipment, potentially starting a fire. Clearly, this is dangerous.

          But the clever guys who wrote the USB standards knew that newer phones with Type C ports would still need backwards compatibility with older USB devices and chargers, so the Type C standard includes a method for the phone to detect what kind of cable is being used, and to only charge at a suitable current - an integrated 56k resister in the cable, which tells the phone to charge at a lower current when detected. This also is seen as a "charging slowly" message on the phone screen.
          (The lack of this vital resister in cheap poor-quality cables is a safety hazard, and has been the subject of some contention - search "Bensen Leung" to see what I mean)

          TL;DR: you can only get a true "fast charge" on a Type-C equipped phone when you're using a proper Type C charger and cable. Using adapter cables and adapter dongles like this deliberately reduce charging speed for your own safety…but don't worry, these particular Blitzwolf adapters are known to be good quality.

          @klaw81:

          I came to raise a similar point but couldn't have worded it as well as you have.

          In short I would steer clear of these, not because they aren't good quality (I own many Blitzwolf cables) but because USB Type-C is never going to work as expected adapting to older standards. Heck I don't even like using USB Type-A to Type-C but for the moment the low numbers of straight Type-C options prevents me having that pure path.

          Anyway, well written klaw81!

          @Click_It: Thanks for your remarks.

          I have a couple of these adapters and have no reason to "steer clear" of them - they work exactly as intended. And since I have a ton of microUSB cables I don't need any more, these make a lot more sense than buying new Type A to Type C cables instead.

          I generally have 1 at home, one in my car, and one in my wallet. This means I have no trouble charging my phone or quickly downloading or uploading a few files, regardless of my location. My good Type C cable stays next to my bed for fast-charging when it's necessary.

        • @klaw81:

          I don't know about the BlitzWolf one but my Xiaomi Mi USB Type-C to Micro USB Adapter does give my TabS3 fast charging.

        • @Bluering48: I'm not totally sure, but I suspect the Tab S3 uses QuickCharge 3.0 charging protocol, rather than the Type C standard. QuickCharge uses higher voltage (up to 12V) rather than higher current, in order to achieve a similar high-wattage charge. QuickCharge relies on communication between charger and device, rather than signalling in the cable, to determine if a faster charge can be achieved.

          OnePlus devices use a Type C plug too, but they use a different charging standard (VOOC) which can vary both voltage and current dynamically, but require the cable, the charger and the device to all be compatible. Otherwise they will just charge at the older USB 2.1 standard of 10.5W.

    • my 2c one charged at a decent speed, but gave me a small zap when I unplugged it! (because the metal connector was longer, and my fat fingers must have got too close). in the bin!

      my Blitzwolf BW-A2 seem to work fine. not sure what the difference is between BW-A1 and BW-A2, aside from the type of metal in the corrector and the material of the casing. I assume it should work just as well.

      • BW-A2 is USB 2.0 while BW-A1 is USB 3.1 according to Banggood website

        • The BW-A1 also says USB2.0 for the female micro USB side, so pretty sure the USB3.1 label on the type c end is meaningless marketing…I highly doubt this adapter is actually USB3.1 in any meaningful sense.

  • Thanks. Useful. Good deal ykwon10

    This business sounds like the name of a Chinese prostitute

      Or something you never do.

  • Are Banggood and AliExpress the only Chinese sites to buy Blitzwolf products? I've looked on Everbuying and Gearbest but nothing there, looking for sites that have those small sign up bonuses.

    • Going by the Blitzwolf site, they provide links to buy via Banggood and Amazon. Apart from AliExpress, I have seen their products on Newegg as well but not any other Chinese sites.

  • USD3 for a 2 pack, not sure what the difference is?

    https://www.banggood.com/Wolf-BW-A2-Micro-USB-to-USB-Type-C-…

    • Your link is the A2, meaning if the standard is adhered to by the device & device & host then it should be able to both charge faster and allow for faster data transfer compared to the OP which is A1!

    Price has reverted back to $10.19 for me. I can load the page with the $2.05 price, but it won't let me add it to my cart.

  • Looks like more have come in stock. Just bought 3 at this price.
