How is it different from the 1st version? It looks the same to me.

    • +15

It's got a big 2 in the title.

      • Is the game play much different?

Or did they just port it to the Switch?

        • -3

It seem like a port really, yes they added new maps and more weapons but nothing really 'new' from the reviews I have read. If you haven't played it its definitely worth getting if you have on a Wii U maybe not - if you still play on Wii U this will probably kill the community their as they upgrade to a switch.

        • +5

New weapons, maps , mode, single player, special attacks and some other content.

Built in "season pass" for 12 months and special events for 2 years

        • +14

…. you don't port games and give it 2. Its a sequel. New story mode, new weapons for competitive mode, new powers, new equipments, new headquarter map.

        • -2

          @Elijha:

if you have on a Wii U maybe no

so nothing worth upgrading for then…

        • +2

@KLoNe: If that is a port + DLC, every single fps instalment in a franchise after the first would be a port. Oh the new setting, campaign, maps etc. are all just DLC

I guess all the CoD games, Battlefield are all the same version?
ofcourse Splatoon is going to look the same, it's the only game that uses ink for guns… each iteration is going to 'look' the same.

but it's a different game, more guns, maps, texture enhancements, new game modes.

      • Battlefield uses slightly different game engines though. BF3 and BF4 used different versions of Frostbite.

Not sure what Splatoon 1 uses but it could be the same engine in the sequel.

        • cough Unreal Engine cough

        • Engine differences seem pretty irrelevant to the point he was making. Besides, engine upgrades don't mean games don't have a similar look or feel. You can look at any Mario platformer and immediately identify it as a Mario title despite technology progressions.

Amend title to say Big W & Target?

But if people can wait, Target is generally good with putting games up on eBay and you can use C5OZ to get it for 5% off?

  • Splatoon 2 or Mario Kart 8 Dexluxe :L?

    • +12

Why not both? Mexican music starts playing

      • Old El Paso. Available at your local tuck shop now

    • MK8 if you have to pick one. Split screen multiplayer + still fun solo, which kind of plays to the Switch's strengths

  • +1

Awesome, thanks a heap! Any deals on the amiibos?

    • +2

Vooks has a good wrap up of all the prices. Splatoon 2 Amiibos are $15 at Big W but pricing hasn't been released for target so may pay to check target on release day.

      • Awesome, thanks!

  • +2

    Aw, I just paid $66 for it from Gamesmen… dat $2 :(

Someone put this man on suicide watch.

  • +2

i wish they list this on ebay so we save 20%.

  • +5

Buy a $64 wish eGiftcard at 5% off from cashrewards. Therefore you will only pay $60.80 at big W.

  • +4

Bought the Switch for this game, been waiting to see where has it cheapest.

    • atm, pretty sure its safe to say that the majority of new releases which are retailing for $79 at most places would be $64 at target on release date and $69 at full retail.

  • +2

Does it have split screen multiplayer mode?

    • +1

      I'm almost certain it doesn't.

      • +1

Yup, reviews say that there is none unfortunately.

    • +1

what a pity. It would have been such a fun party game otherwise

  • +2

Nice another classic for the Switch… Still along way to go before its as good as Wii U but its a start.

I will wait for the user reviews

Otherwise my switch will continue to collect dust

One who neg me must be a fan boy

You are engrossed with your own perception, you fail to read what is written

      • Have you played the first splatoon? It should be very identical as the concept of the game is unchanged, you battle for more territory(ink splat on floor/wall) by end of the match in multiplayer.

Single player have their own story which is interesting by itself. Usually make use of the game mechanics to solve puzzles.

Don't expect action packed uber godly c4 tank exploding helicopter kind of play like CoD/battlefield.

  • Price matched Big W for the game and the amiibos at EBGames. Got the typical magnet and some keyring as a preorder for it. I actually really enjoyed the single player in the first game so I'm looking forward to it in the sequel, looks like a blast.
