First it started with New phone feeling with Telstra and now Optus have these 12 month leases. Where are are these phones going? Are they being given/sold back locally as refurbs or are they being sent overseas? I don't think Telstra/Optus are offering second hand phones for sale so once they get it back where do they do with them? I heard that Apple was trying to break in to the India market with refrubed phones as the new ones were at a too high a price point
Where Are The 12 Month Old Phones Being Traded Back into Telstra/Optus Ending up

Hardly Normal Sale
Telstra have a deal with this mob. Not sure who optus deal with
Brightstar is their wholesaler.
If you go to the brightstar web site you can see a video on how they process the parts for recycling. Where I work, we trade in phones and send them there.
I used to work for Brightstar.
Returns was normal, the recycling is a bit new. They'd subcontract that.
Well I had a new phone feeling Iphone 6S given back to Telstra, I am pretty sure it is being on sold but where is it ending up? I am sure it is not being recycled or taken apart for parts yet (thats for older phones I'd say)
Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and Apple ALL use Brightstar for their trade in programs.
i want to know as well.
why cant we buy it for very cheap prices?same thing with laptops. where are they?
how about some brand new laptop with 1 years old age that cannot be sold. can we buy them cheap? i dont need current processors. 1 or 2 years old would still fine as long we got 75% discounts.
I believe a lot of the phones traded are on-sold to companies in other countries where second hand devices are in a lot of cases more popular than new.
Why would I sell to you very cheap, when I can control the market and only sell to one major player, who has a market for them and can ensure that's no one is able to buy them for 25% of their original price… Making it's still around the 60-70% range… makes more sense for the player(s) receiving the old phones.
Gerry Harvey buys them, then sells them as brand new like my ereader.
