Hi everyone,
Purchased a mazda 3 at the EOFY sales and only picking up the car this month. The car dealer mentioned that they had an extended warranty promotion for 700 up front (compared to 1800). On top of the standard mazda 3 year warranty, you get an additional 5 year warranty provided all servicing done with their servicing centre. I am located in a regional town.
The main benefits were:
-Roadside assist (They use National Roadside Assist / which is administered by Harrier National)
-the 5 year warranty covers up to 200,000kms, $2000 covered per claim (unlimited), and "most major moving mechanical parts (which is where they have an extremely extremely long list of parts which I don't know are prone to breaking?)
So my questions/topics open to discussion were:
-Is it worth it? The salesman tried to pitch it as 700 for 8 years roadside assist, which is cheaper than if I did it through NRMA/allianz. (NRMA is 200/year because im in a regional town)
-Is the money saved on roadside assistance lost through being forced to do servicing with the dealership? (vs going to a local independent mechanic after the 3 year Mazda warranty is up)
-I've tried to look up reviews of National Roadside assist (apparently they sub-contract the work to NRMA?)
-There seems to be mixed reviews about putting claims administered by Harrier National, but some of them are quite old and I can't seem to find much on the internet.
Thank you for reading.
no.
i got this for free when buying a Renault, starts after the manufacturers 5 year warranty for us. OK for free, not for $700 and definately a rip off for $1800. This is the standard up-sell extras when buying a new car. Just say no.
hopefully spacebase will chime in , I bet he says stay clear too.
