Any Recommendations for Movers? (Melbourne)

Hi guys,

We are planning to move soon from North Melbourne to Pascoe Vale and are looking for movers.

Any recos from the folks here?

  We used some guys called Move-n-It. They were recommended to us by our then neighbours.
  They were a really good price,did their job really quickly and carefully. All in all, very pleased and have recommended them a few times :)

  I used Melbourne City Movers about a month ago to move from "City" to "City".
  Two guys and a 3 ton truck was $80/hour and a one off $25 fuel cost.

  I found some negative reviews online so I budgeted extra in my mind, but I ended up having a good experience with them.
  Quick and easy and I would use them again.

    3 ton truck? was that a small move?

      My bad - I checked their website again - it was actually a 4.5 tonne truck.

      I live alone in a one bedroom apartment and I moved to another one bedroom. I had all the usual big items like a family would normally have: sofa, dining table, coffee table, fridge, washing machine, dryer, etc plus about 25 "moving boxes" .

      Everything was done in one trip and there was still plenty of room in the truck.

        It was the cheapest I could find. Some of the reviews I found online said that they take their time so that it stretches out the time but I didn't see any of that. I went and got them coffees and water and asked them to take a break.

        On the other end of the scale, I got a quote from Kent removalists and it was $250/hour!

        I figured that there's no way they could stretch it out to take three times as long!

    I called them. Great folks. However in addition to the hourly rate and fuel rate, they are charging a 1 hour travel rate as well. Which is like 1 additional hour. Did you have this as well?
