The easiest way to move photos from camera

Hi,

I am using my old camera alot (50 pics a day). It's quite old around 10 megapixel but it's working well. It's used mainly indoor in a low light environment.

The problem is it's a bit harder to send the pictures around. If I were to use a phone/tablet, I can easily attach it to an email and send it around.

However, from an old camera, I have to take out the SD card, put it in a PC and copy/move it before sending it out via email.

I am wondering if there are easier way to do this. The cheaper the better of course!

Option 1: I am thinking of buying tablet/ipad to take the pictures, but I need a tablet that works well indoor (low light environment). This cost minimum $300 (possibly). Any tablet recommendation?

Option 2: I heard about SD card that can connect via wifi (air/wifi SD card?). Any good brand?

Is there are any other options that I should consider?

Thank you.

  • That "table" confused the shit out of me lol.

    • Hahaha…. I was like what are you talking about? Then i re-read my post and know what you mean. Fixed for you.

  • You can use memory cards that allows you to transfer images to a tablet or pc via wifi.
usually manufacturers have apps that will allow you to email or share to social media via the app.

However I still find it easier to copy and use the PC so I only use this option when I am trying to travel light and not have a PC.

Eye-fi are the most commonly sold in the shops locally

  • Wifi cards are expensive.

Either get a bigger card (so you're not transferring them out daily), or more cards of a smaller capacity (same reason) or deal with the current method :)

Option 2: I heard about SD card that can connect via wifi (air/wifi SD card?). Any good brand?

Toshiba FlashAir and Eye-Fi? Also Ez Share which is a micro SD adapter that has wifi. They all work by providing a hotspot where your phone or tablet can connect to, and then access the photos / videos on the card.

What make/model is it? Surely it has a mini or micro USB port that can be used to upload the photos?

or upgrade and grab a (relatively) cheapie p&s with wi fi eg https://www.jbhifi.com.au/cameras/compact-cameras/nikon/niko…

    Or use a phone

  • Could just use a phone/tablet and have it sync photos to a cloud service and then have them auto sync to the PC you need them on. I do this for my work, although I only take a few each day at most.

  • Re-reading your post again, it looks like you want the low-light ability of DSLR and the convenience and connectivity that taking pictures with your phone/tablet offers. Assuming you already have either an Android or iPhone, have you considered an SD card adapter that you can plug to your phone?

I can't speak for iPhone or iPad, but I've had success in the past connecting a USB OTG multimedia adapter (the ones you can plug it micro SD, SD, etc) to my android tablet, transfer it to my tablet then upload to Dropbox.

Can't remember where I bought my adapter, but it was something like this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Micro-USB-OTG-to-USB-2-0-Adapter-…

  • USB OTG SD card reader.
Remove SD card and then straight into phone or tablet.

  • Maybe one of these, although a touch more expensive than the other options, it gives you a lot of functions.
