Help with International Roaming Plan (Keep Current AU Number)

Hi all,

Need some help here from Ozbaragainers :)

I will be travelling to Qatar for a few weeks and require my current Australian mobile number active to receive calls.
* Due to the nature of my current job, I receive in excess of 30+ calls with each being 10+min (thus minute charge rates are not ideal)
* Thus would be happy to pay up to $40 PER DAY to get access to my Australian plan (i.e similar to the Vodafone $5 international roaming).

To my bad luck, Both telstra's $10 int.roam addon and vodaphones $5 addon do not include qatar.

Preferably I would want my current Australian mobile number however I could also workaround if a new Australian number was needed.

    Could you get a VOIP number and a local SIM card?

    E.g a service like https://sonetel.com/en/

    Or a Skype number ?

    As a workaround you could forward your Australian mobile to a VOIP number. And answer that VOIP number from QATAR - as long as you have good quality data.

    Thanks for the suggestions, did some research and seems as though VOIP/Skpe is blocked in Qatar so don't think thats's an option
