Has anyone seen a good deal on the pi 3?

  • +1

Anyone wondering what to do with this I can recommend making a Volumio player

    https://volumio.org/get-started/

    Buy a dac http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/I2S-PCM5102-DAC-Decoder-32bit-Pla…

Follow the pin out instructions from halfway down this page http://www.imnotgeek.com/29-11-2016/diy-dac-raspberry-pi-a-5…

I use a rj45 to micro usb adaptor but maybe the wireless will be ok for you.

Ordered. My first Raspberry Pi. Going to see if I can build a small backup service for a small clubs Google Drive.

  • Does anyone have any simple projects to run with the Pi zero W or 3B? I'm already running pi hole

  • can i turn this into snes emulator?

Core Electronics are a good mob, bought my Pi 3 B through them and another case for it when the genuine article turned out to overheat it. Oh the irony lol
    But yeah, would recommend :-)

    • Thanks Stevles!

    • Did you get some heatsinks for it?

  • +1

Yeah I got one from them about a month ago. Making my own Gameboy console. The Zero w is a good solution when you need something small. Making hand-held game consoles, security cameras etc.. If you need something that will handle more processing, get a Pi3.

Thanks OP, got a W for a good price!!!

    • Cheers, we'll send it today!

  • This doesn't seem to be a great deal, it is the same cost at Littlebird , Pi Zero is actually 3c cheaper at littlebird

Until you take into account the postage costs

  • Alright folks, I am not a tech but really want to get into the world of Raspberry Pi. The very first thing that I would like to do is run a home-bridge server on it to communicate to my Lifx bulbs.

Now I know that R.Pi Zero W can do that quite easily. What I like to know is, if in the future I like to some more project such as temp. sensor or motion sensor etc. Will this little device be enough to run all that simultaneously? Or should I go straight for Pi3 if that's an easy option for a naive like me.

Also, I would like to get the basic stuff (such as mini USB/HDMI to regular USB/HDMI etc.) along with Pi Zero W. I don't see Core Electronics selling the basis Kit, or the one they have is bit pricey. If I buy one of these is that enough?

The Pi Zero has the same number of pins so you can attach the same number of sensors as the bigger Pi and if it just sensing then perofrmance will be fine. I am a fan of Node-Red for automating LifX and other home devices…check it out but for best performance the bigger pi is way to go.

      • Node-Red for automating LifX

        Thanks for your input.

I intend to do automation that can be controlled by Siri, would Node-Red assist me with that? Since you are already using it[Node-Red], can you recommend any good tutorial online to achieve this[Control Lifx using Siri]?

        • +1

No Siri experience sorry… I have Google Home and integrate with Node-Red using ifttt and it's Webhooks service to do what I want via voice.

Many, many reasons. If you can't think of any, the product isn't for you.

        • Some light retro gaming yes.

I am happy to announce that today we were able to ship all orders after the weekend OzBargain rush!

And can I just say, it was no small feat, I tip my hat to the logistics team @Core Electronics.

NB - orders placed before 2PM today were also shipped.

  • Has anyone else not received their RPi yet? Ordered on the 18th and still waiting :(

    • Did you order anything else that was back-ordered or had a lead-time? Have you tried emailing [email protected] ?

I ordered on the 16th, it shipped at the end of 18th and I received it first thing the following day (but I'd paid for tracked express).

      • Just the RPi. Have emailed them and they advised they have sent it, but as with stamped mail there's no tracking…
