So I've just received my AmEx Explorer card and I need to make the minimum spend for the signup bonus, so I'm now looking to change energy providers. I've tried to do a search on Google, but haven't come up with much in terms of a list of which energy providers support AmEx for payment. I'm with Origin for both electricity and gas atm, and honestly I haven't looked at the rates in a long time so I'm probably getting ripped off. Any suggestions?
Utilities That Accept American Express?
Comments
Red Energy website says Mastercard or Visa
AGL accepts it via paypal
Also, no surcharge
I use Powershop, they accept it
Lumo Energy do.
Also Telstra via Paypal
This for whatever reason got me thinking. I have almost completed my contract with Optus and will be cancelling after that. Optus charge just 0.385% for AMEX payments. Could I not, just pay onto my Optus bill say, $5000, then once cancelled, get that back as a cheque? Let me know your thoughts guys.
Optus don't charge for Amex payments on direct debit, including from credit cards.
Direct debit would only take the due amount in the bill though.
Energy Aus DD with Amex.
Check if the provider accepts Post BillPay and if yes, pay using Amex Linked Paypal.
Not all billers accept Amex, even if it's through Post BillPay and PayPal. I've tried with my council rates with no luck.
Sydney Water (via PayPal)
Momentum Engery do, manually via 'Pay Invoice', but not via Direct Debit.
NRMA Insurance take PayPal but only Visa and MasterCard so I'm gonna assume that they accept AMEX via PayPal
Edit: Sorry, just saw you were interested only in gas and electricity providers
Edit: mistake
